「アーガス」と並ぶ代表作、これ以降混沌たる世界に入っていく（というのが定説・・。僕はこれ以降も結構好きなのがあります）のですが。ここでは、イギリスっぽい暗さからアメリカ的明るさが入ってきて、そこにまだ残っているブリティッシュ的叙情性が織り込まれてなんとも表現しがたい・・入り込んでしまう世界が繰り広げられております。極めつけの「PERSEPHONE」..これはいい曲です。ただこの世界をずっと展開していくのは難しかったみたいですね。ですからトータル的な世界の展開という意味では「アーガス」に軍配でしょうか？？ですが、ジャケットもいい感じですし、「ウィッシュボーン４」のジャケットは手抜きみたいだったのでこのジャケットは気にいっております。「FUBB」ライブでは凄いでした。アンディ・パウエルは格好良かったです。フライングVはこの人が一番似合っていたように思います。

ウィッシュボーンといえばアーガス。しかし実は、このアルバム以降の数枚が彼らの傑作群なんです。叙情性とか、整合感をさらに、成熟としてこなれた演奏に昇華しています。アーガスももちろんですが、これからが彼らの本領発揮だと思います。テクの整合感・楽曲・独特の美学は正に唯一無比。地味なバンドですが、存在感は永遠です。

　テッド・ターナーに代わるアメリカ人ギタリスト、ローリー加入直後の６作目は、彼らのアルバムの中で、最もハードでエネルギッシュな雰囲気に溢れた作品だ。バンジョーやマンドリン、パーカッション等を用いながらも、アッシュらしい、うねるベース、飛び跳ねるドラム、泣きのツインリードギターをグイッと前面に押し出した音作りが印象的。お得意のメロディアスな曲から、凝ったインストルメンタル・ナンバーまで、楽曲・アレンジ・演奏・構成ともに非常に完成度の高いアルバムである。

　１曲目は、イントロからカントリー風かな、と思いきや、サビではブリティシュロックにしっかり転換。チョーキングを多用したソロやツインリードギターに一安心。２曲目は、ぐぐぐブルルン、トトトドンドン、きゅるきゅるキュイ-ンと、スピード感満点に押し捲るナンバー。エンディングの超カッコいいこと。３曲目は、終始なみだ涙のギターが泣かせる哀愁のバラード。４曲目は、アメリカンな雰囲気で流し、５曲目は、「うるうる」のツインリードギターが続く。そして、ラストは「ＦＵＢＢ」は、緊張感から叙情的に、そして、クールに盛り上がる「かっこいい」の一言に尽きるインストルメンタル・ナンバーだ。

　「アメリカを意識した」とは言うけど、十分ブリティッシュ。彼らのベスト５に入る仕上がりだと思う。今でも古さは感じられない。心・技・体ともに絶頂期のウィッシュボーン・アッシュを聞き逃すな！
