　当時（１９８９年）、洋楽ばかりを聴いていた僕が、所謂パンク的なバンドとして一部で認知されていた彼らのこの作品を耳にしたときの衝撃は今でも忘れられない。
　メロディーの圧倒的な疾走感、多くの問題提起と意味を含みながらもユーモアにあふれていた詩、そして何よりサビの部分も含め詩が殆どが日本語（大阪弁？）の歌詞が曲と合わさることにより、その当時聴いていた洋楽よりかっこよかったのである。
　当時（今でも？）バンドの詩は、下を向きたくなる程かっこよく、サビも英語であるのが当たり前だったのである。衝撃的であった。
　そして、忘れてならないのは、ちょっと郷愁を誘うような音色を出していたキーボードの奥野真哉である。他のレビュアーも触れているが、中川敬とともに彼の存在もニューエストモデルには必要不可欠なものであった。
　その後、彼らは盟友メスカリンドライブと合体、「ソウルフラワー…」として活動、チンドンやケルト等様々なジャンルの音楽を取り込んで成長を続けている。そして、音楽的評価も高いようだが、私にはどうも敷居が高くなってしまったような気がする。
　本作は、中川敬の衝動がストレートに反映されている「ロックバンド」ニューエストモデルの傑作である。そして当時の日本のロック（パンク）が生んだ現在にも通用する傑作である。

中川敬のメジャー初作品にして世間に対する問題提起の露骨さはバンド史上最大。
今も彼はアメリカ、石原慎太郎の右寄りな思想に反抗し続けていますが
デビュー当時の、なにより若い中川の叫びは切実で嘘がない。自分対世界の構図がこれほど強く出ているアルバムは、
たとえどんな音であってもパンクだなと思いました。

奥野真哉のピアノのメロディーも最高。中川はいい出会いをしたね。

ひたすらかっこよく、特に１〜２曲目、
１２〜１３曲目の流れは鳥肌が立つ。
未だにニューエストモデル・ソウルフラワーは唯一無二で
誰もフォロワーがいないのもバンドの独自性を物語っていると思う。
