シングル「雨」を含むファースト・アルバム。歌詞、楽曲、歌、すべてが新鋭ならではの衒いのなさ、みずみずしさにあふれていて気持ちいい。それは、時にストレート過ぎて驚いてしまうほど。まだ少し不器用なぶん、今後その能力がどうなってゆくか、とても楽しみ。

ディーヴァと呼ばれるヴォーカリストなら星の数ほどいる昨今だが、そんななか、ちょっと吃驚するような歌手が現れた。高田志麻。ウルフルズやBonnie Pinkを発掘した森本泰輔をして「この子がワシの最後のアーティストじゃ!」と言わしめた才能だ。ファースト・アルバムである本作を聴いたところ、なるほど歌が非常にうまかった。声量がたっぷりとあって表現力も豊か。しかし、それよりすごいと感じたのは、彼女の歌い方が“正統派”然としていたことだ。高田には、今ではすっかりJ-POPの主流になったR&Bテイストも感じられなければ、耳に絡みつくような発音のクセもない。また、これだけ歌唱力があれば、力任せな歌い回しでゴリ押しできそうなのに、そんな箇所も見当たらない。切々と巧みに歌い上げている。その潔さにひたすら感心。感心といえば、ソングライティングのセンスもなかなかで、恋の切なさや失恋の悲しみがストレートに響いてきた。今後もさらなる飛躍が期待できる、いい歌手だと思う。 (島津智子) --- 2002年09月号
