   mimicとは擬態の意。動物が身を守ったり、敵を攻撃したり、色や形を周囲の物や捕食者に似せることをいう。
   ゴキブリを媒介として子供たちを死に至らしめる伝染病が、近未来のニューヨークを襲った。昆虫学者スーザンは、遺伝子操作でDNAをもたないゴキブリの天敵「ユダの血統」を発表。伝染病は絶滅したかのように見えたが、「ユダ」は進化し、人間に擬態して変化を遂げていくのだった。
   遺伝子操作によって巨大化したゴキブリは迫力の5.1chで部屋中を不気味な羽音をたてて飛びまわり、襲いかかるゴキブリを踏みつぶせば、飛び散る体液。観賞後もその気味悪い効果音が耳から離れない。冒頭のクレジットシーンはまるでミュージッククリップのようにおしゃれだが…生理的な恐怖や嫌悪感を強く感じてしまうから、ゴキブリ嫌いな人は絶対に見てはならない。（ビーンズおがわ）

もーね、臭いです。
この作品は。
監督の体臭がプンプンしてきます。
もーね、こだわりまくりのグロテスク映像炸裂！！
デル・トロ監督の悪趣味極まりないセンスが大爆発！！

楽しすぎですよ。

人間のフリしたデカ虫がガシガシ変形して、ミラをとっ捕まえよーとぶっ飛んでくるシーンは鳥肌もの！！

巨大なデカ虫のウ○コが天井からドドーン！とぶら下がってるシーンなんて感動しすぎた。

後半は「エイリアン2」ノリでサイコー！！

超絶傑作デカ虫スリラー！！

本作の人気を受けて二作目、三作目が作られましたが《続編は外れる法則》に見事にハマり残念な結果に…。
とは言え続編が出来るだけあって本作は確かに良作。 特に、作中のクリーチャー《ユダの血統》の人間への擬態方法は見事でした。

都市伝説がテーマにもなっているお気に入りの映画です。この作品に参加している監督のギジェルモ・デル・トロ、主演のミラ・ソルビーノ、脚本にはソダーバーグ、ジョン・セイルズ、音楽はマルコ・ベルトラミ、そしてカイル・クーパーとお気に入りに人たちの名前がずらーり。お話はエンディングがもうちょっとという気もしますが、人間に擬態した巨大昆虫が地下鉄のホームに立ってる・・・とうだけでストライクです。
