I ordered this DVD from England to USA. It wasn't sold in USA probably Americans cannot understand this movie.

Being a husband of hairdresser is a dream of all men.
Being with someone she loves is her dream.

There is nothing special until just before the end of this movie. The ordinary daily life is described. They have nothing special but they love each other and they are happy. Most director cannot make such a movie, but the director of this movie did a very good job. This is one of the most beautiful movie in terms of visuality (noy only the actress) and story.

Some of my friends hate and don't understand the last of this movie, but I totally understand her.
If I were her, I would choose the same thing.

その男の夢は、髪結いの亭主になること。グラマラスな理髪師の女性に恋をして以来、ずっと抱き続けてきた、子どもの頃からの夢。

男は中年になり、その夢を叶える。美しい女性を妻にめとり、小さな理髪店で彼女を見つめて過ごす。自作の妙なアラブダンスを踊ってあげたり（笑えます）、二人で香水を飲んで酔っぱらったり。そして見つめあいセックスをする。柔らかな日射しが差し込む美容室の中で繰り広げられる、幸せに満ちた日常。

しかし幸せの絶頂で、終わらない夢を選択した女性がとった行動とは・・・。それは恋をした女の我が儘であり、弱さであり、優しさでもある。
現実の愛が終わりあるものだとしたら、こんな永遠の愛をかいま見るのも良いものです。甘美な世界を堪能してください。

ものうげにやさしく微笑するマチルダがよい。たとえようもなくエレガント。控え目で観察が鋭く、孤独を愛する美容師。髪を切ったお客さんが美容室から出て行ったあとは、しばらく戸のガラス越しに客のうしろすがたを見送る。あの遠くを見る横顔がすごくいい。

子供のころ通った女性の美容師にあらがえぬほどの官能的な魅力を感じた少年が、そのまま大人になり、少年時代の夢のとおり、美容師と結婚するというお話。
浅い眠りの途中で夢から醒めても夢をみているような、映画全体のリアリティーのなさが、ラストをさらに痛切なものにしている。
「髪結いの亭主」とは、ヒモのことを意味するイディオムらしい。
