MONDO GROSSO／MONDAY満ちる／ACOなど多数のプロデュースを手掛けた、COSMIC VILLAGEのリーダーでもある沖野修也（兄）と、大阪・南船場のレコード店＜Especial Records＞を運営する好洋（弟）による兄弟DJユニット。91年、地元・京都にて結成。ユニット名は、アシッド・ジャズの生みの親、ジャイルス・ピーターソンが来日時に発した"キョウトをジャズでマッシヴしろ！"という言葉に由来する。兄・修也は、アシッド・ジャズ誕生前夜の87年にイギリスへと渡り、自由な精神に満ちたロンドンのクラブ・カルチャーを目の当りにする。帰国後、DJ活動を開始。93年に上京し、渋谷・桜ヶ丘でクラブ＜The Room＞をオープン。東京のクラブ・カルチャー普及に努めた。94年、デビュー・アルバム『Kyoto Jazz Massive』を発表。00年には、フランスのレーベル＜Yellow Productions＞とドイツの＜Compost＞からもリリースを果たす。「Kyoto Jazz Massive EP」に収録された「The View From Her Room」では、ゲスト・ヴォーカルとしてボサ・ノヴァの神ジョアン・ジルベルトの娘、ベベル・ジルベルトをフィーチャー。「Eclipse」は＜London BBC Radio 1＞にて、３週間に渡り第１位を獲得する快挙を成し遂げた。さらに、リミキサーとしても手腕を発揮。これまでに、U.F.O.／ススム・ヨコタ／アナンダ・プロジェクトなど、多数のリミックスを手掛けている。――ジャズ／ソウル／ファンク／ラテン／ボサ・ノヴァなどを洗練された感覚で融合し、ヨーロッパのシーンをも揺るがすKJMは、言うまでもなく日本のクラブ・ジャズ界が世界に誇る偉才だ！

KJMが活動10年余りにして初のアルバムと言う事で期待以上の出来です。ジャザノバはEPで盛り上がりアルバムではいまいちでしたが、KJMは素晴らしいアルバムを出してくれました。どの曲もメランコリーで良い意味でポップ。人を引きつけるメロディーがここにはあります。軽快なリズムに美しいエレピが乗ってついつい体を揺らしてしまいます。これはお手本とされるべきクラブジャズアルバムだと思います。

沖野兄弟のユニットであるＫＹＯＴＯ ＪＡＺＺ ＭＡＳＳＩＶＥの最新作である、ＳＰＩＲＩＴＯ ＯＦ ＴＨＥ ＳＵＮ。
最近、カフェや洋服屋で流れているのをよく耳にする。
小さな音でも爆音でもきっと生活を盛り上げてくれるはず。
クラブジャズ好きなら必須。
