   前作から17年が経過し、1999年を翌年に控えた98年に登場した、「銀河鉄道999」最新劇場用新作。
   物語は鉄郎が地球へと帰還してから1年後。新政府のもとで地球は平和を保っているかのように見えたが、地下ではその平和の下敷きになっている人々が暮らし、鉄郎もまた地下牢に監禁されていた。だが、そこへ懐かしいメーテルが、銀河鉄道999の汽笛と共にやってくる。鉄郎は地下から逃げだし、2人は999で宇宙へと旅立つ。宇宙海賊ハーロックや女海賊エメラルダスといったこれまでも本シリーズに重要人物として登場してきた松本キャラに加え、本作ではついに「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」まで登場、さらに広がる松本ワールドの壮大なるプロローグを堪能できる。（田中 元）

尻切れトンボのような作品です。
小学生の時に夢中になり、映画館にも行きました。
で、年月は流れ新作と言うことで、ツタヤで借りました。
1回見れば十分です。声優陣が変わらずにいてくれた事だけが救いです。
原作の方も20巻で終わりのようですし、こんな中途半端な作品なら、
発表しないでそっとしておいて欲しかったです。

あえて買う必要はありません。1度レンタルしてから決めても遅くありません。

上映されてからずいぶん経って居るけどその後どうなってるんだろう。
ＤＶＤ買ったけどストレスがたまっちゃいます・・・
続編があるなら良いけどこのままでは内容が中途半端かな。。

劇場版といえば、2時間前後に一つのストーリー、そしてそれなりの映像を期待するものと思いますが、この作品は、映像は良くても、ストーリーがイントロのみで、それも1時間にも満たず、一枚のDVDにする価値はないと思います。続編が出てから、一緒に収録して欲しいです。

こういう物が発売されるのががっかり、OX記念の懸賞商品としては人気がでるでしょうけれど…。
いつまでも大事にしたい作品はDVDで欲しいですが、これは買って後悔しました。
