最近キンクスの歌をよく耳にしますが、何気にキンクスの歌って結構ＣＭで使われてるんですよね。「You Really Got Me」とか「All Day And All Of The Night」とか、最近ではキムタクのドラマ予告に「I Gotta Move」が使われてたって言うし。クイーンのように新たなリスナー層を築いてほしいですな~。

これは、そんな最近キンクスを知った人にもお薦めな1枚（2枚？）です。Disc1に「Waterloo Sunset」や「Lola」など往年のヒットシングル曲が、Disc2には他のアーティストにカヴァーされた曲やB面曲などの隠れた名曲が収録されています。

改めて驚かされるのが、メロディーやアレンジの多彩さです。正直自分は、キンクスは「You Really Got Me」だけの一発屋だろうと思ってました。そう思ってたのは僕だけじゃないと思うんですが･･･。それが、最近『The Village Green Preservation Society』を聴いてぶちのめされました。キンクスはビートルズに匹敵する！！

もし僕と同じ先入観を持ってる人がいたら、その考えを変えて下さい。コレを聴けば考えは変わります。お薦めの曲はM1、M2、M3･･･ええい、めんどくさい！！　全部です！！！

彼等がメジャー・デビューしたのは、
英国ビート・グループが全盛の頃。
サウンドはハーモニー重視でもなく、
逆にストーンズのようにラフ過ぎでもない。
１枚目の３曲目や５曲目では「きれい」に演奏している。
この時代のグループやバンド、歌手を知っていても、
彼等を知らない、というのをよく耳にするので、
是非聞いてみて欲しい。満足することは間違いない。
このＣＤで十分だと思う。
