5.0 out of 5 stars 楽曲中心に練られた良質の作品, 2004/4/18
前作の「Odyssey」のポップさは消え、正統派北欧メタル的なサウンドに回帰した作品。哀愁を帯びたメロディーの曲に、ヨラン・エドマンの切なげなハイトーンがとてもマッチしています。

「Motherless Child」や「Demon Driver」あたりでは、ある意味使い古されたリフやフレーズが聞かれますが、逆に「これぞイングヴェイ節」的な感じで好印象が持てます。変に斬新な事をするより、例え保守的になっても良い楽曲を提供しようとした姿勢が、個人的には気に入っています。どの曲も、メロディーが良いです。
ブルージーな「Bedroom Eyes」、スピードチューンの「Motherless Child」、ミドルテンポでダークながらも少しポップな「Making Love」、美しいバラードの「Save Our Love」等、バラエティに富んだ楽曲ながら、アルバム全体に統一感が有ります。

圧巻はインストの「Eclipse」でしょう。イントロのスウィープ・ピッキングの連打は、ギタリストなら必ずコピーしたくなるフレーズです。

この作品は駄作といわれているけど、そんなことは無い。ただのインギーのギターだけを聞くアホな人たちが駄作と言っているだけです。 とてもメロディーが綺麗で聞きやすいです。初心者にはオデッセイと同じくらい聞きやすいと思いますよ。イングヴェイの作曲の才能のすごさがわかりますよ。8のスウィープのギターソロと11はコピーせずにはいられないほどカックイイっすよ!買わなかったら月にかわってお仕置きよ!

インギ−の作品の中では最高。メロディー、音の厚みなど、メタルファンのみならず幅広いファン層が楽しめる内容となっています。発売当初購入したものを未だに大切に聞いています。彼の作品を購入するなら、本作品と「SEVENTH SIGN」の２作が特にお薦めです。その次が「TRILOGY」、「ODYSSEY」でしょうか。
