これは、凄いアルバムです！６０年代後半~７０年代というのはロック音楽がグ~ンと拡大していた時期ですね。

そんな中でロック・オペラという新たな分野を切り開いた偉大なバンドがこのザ・フーでしょう。ロック・オペラとは、最初のオーバーチュアからラストの曲までが一つの物語という構成がとられています。コンセプト・アルバムというものがビートルズによって提示されましたが、さらにそれを一歩進めたのが「トミー」です。

時代を切り開くというザ・フーの意欲が十分に伝わってきます。ロック・オペラという魅力だけでなく、ザ・フーの魅力が溢れています。随所に、これぞフー・サウンドといえる軽快なリズムを散りばめ、最初から最後まで飽きさせません。

その後「トミー」は、映画化されたり舞台化されたりしていきましたが、オリジナルの「トミー」は、まだ贅肉のついていない野性動物を感じさせます。
本格的なロック・アルバムを探している方には一押しです。

オリジナル２ＣＨミックスのマスター・テープは、69年当時に儀式的に燃やしてしまったため存在せず、マルチトラックテープから改めてオリジナルそっくりにミックスしたものが96年に出た労作と言えるリミックス版でした。ところが、それは何と大嘘(！)で、実はオリジナル２ＣＨマスターが発見された！という信じ難い話ですが、今回のデラック版にはそのオリジナル２ＣＨミックスマスターが、1969年以来おそらく初めて使われています。ＳＡＣＤを持ってないのでＣＤ層しか聞いていませんが、96年リミックスのさらに上を行く、生々しい音です。96年版もセパレーションが良く、ピートのアコギもくっきり聞こえる音質の良さで好評でしたが、今回はさらに音の厚みと艶が１ランク上です！それにこれこそオリジナル・ミックス！初めてトミーを買う人は迷わずこれを選んでください。既に持ってる人も一聴の価値があります。私はＳＡＣＤ５ＣＨミックスを聞きたいのでＳＡＣＤプレーヤー買おうと思ってます。
