　リリース当時最大のヒット曲"Honky Tonk Women"を目玉に据えたベストもの。カウベルとキース絶品のカッティングとドラムスだけで始まる簡潔な出だしから、テイラーのリードと歌のコーラス、後半はサックスも加わりテンポ維持など無視して突っ走るエンディングが生々しい迫力に溢れた南部的ロックだ。一世一代の閃きリフ、チャック・ベリーの影響を我がものとして昇華してみせた"Jumpin'Jack Flash"もアルバムでは初のお目見えとなった。前者はLet it Bleedの後者はBeggars Banquetの収録作になっていてもおかしくないはずだったが、発売時期等の兼合いから彼等を代表する二曲は編集盤に度々登場するだけの宿無しソングになってしまった。

　他は既にアルバム収録作としては既出だが、副題を尊重してブライアンの演奏が印象深い作品が選択されている。1のシタール、2のリコーダー、5の十二弦ギター＆シタール、9のメロトロンなど彼の演奏が曲の印象を決定づけたものも多い。コンポーザーとしては無理だったにしても、必要とされる音を聴く耳は本物だったわけで、彼に偏執観念さえなければアレンジャーとして活躍できたのは確実だったはずだ。UK盤とは曲目が異なっているが、とにかくストーンズファンならtr.4&7収録の準オリジナル作品として必携の一枚！

Honky Tonk Womanを聞く為LPを買ったことを思い出しました。Honky Tonk Womanも必殺のイントロの最高のロック。ライヴテイクなどがかなり出ているが、私はオリジナルこのこのテイクが一番まとまりが合ってタイトで好きです。私にとっては他の曲はまあおまけみたいなもの。
