75年に出たストーンズのデッカ時代のアウトテイク集。待望の初ＣＤ化で、今回のリマスター･シリーズの目玉。内容は、ストーンズが他のアーティストに提供した曲のデモ録音や『Beggars Banquet』『Let It Bleed』録音時のアウトテイクが中心。「Out Of Time」はミックがプロデュースしたクリス･ファーロウの為のガイド･ヴォーカル･ヴァージョン。クリス･ファーロウ版と同じバック演奏でミックが歌っているもの。「Don't Lie To Me」は64年の第１回チェス録音時の未発表曲（チャック・ベリーのカバー）。３~９曲目はアンドリュー･オールダム･オーケストラをバックにミックが歌ってるもので、おそらく「Out Of Time」と同じくガイド･ヴォーカルの為の録音だろう（すべて64年録音）。その中では「Heart Of Stone」の別ヴァージョンが聴きもので、ジミー･ペイジやジョン･マクラフリン等が参加したといわれている。途中で聴けるギター・ソロはジミー･ペイジだろうか？　「I Don't Know Why」はスティービー・ワンダーのカバー曲で69年録音。このアルバムが発売された当時、シングル・カットもされた程の出来。「If You Let Me」はアルバム『Between The Buttons』のアウトテイク（67年録音）。「Jiving Sister Fanny」と「I'm Going On」の２曲は『Let It Bleed』のアウトテイクで、ミック・テイラー加入後の69年録音。「Jiving Sister Fanny」ではテイラーのギター・ソロも聞ける。「Downtown Suzie」と「Family」の２曲は『Beggars Banquet』のアウトテイク（68年録音）。「Downtown Suzie」は珍しくビル・ワイマン作曲で、『Beggars Banquet』に収録されていてもおかしくない佳曲。「Memo From Turner」はミックのソロ名義のシングル曲（70年の映画『パフォーマンス』の主題歌）の別ヴァージョンで、正規ヴァージョンではバックはストーンズではなかったが、こちらはストーンズが演奏しており、個人的には出来はこちらの方が良いと思う。アンドリュー･オールダム･オーケストラとのデモ録音などはあまり面白いものとは言えないが、68~69年のアウトテイクなどは非常に充実しており、万人には薦められないが、ストーンズ・ファンはやはり聴くべきアルバム。

デモ・テープからアウト・テイクや既発盤のヴァージョン違いなどを集めた編集盤で、今回が初のCD化です。

ということで、以前西新宿のブートレグ・ショップでストーンズの安めの物を買い漁っていた頃の感じで購入しました、リマスターの音質も美しく楽曲もヒット曲のバージョン違いにワイマンやチャック・ベリー、スティービー・ワンダーの作詞・作曲までありと多彩な内容で、初期stonesに興味のある方にもお薦めできます。

大好きな５曲目はジミー・ペイジのギターがトロピカルなアレンジです、１５曲目のアレンジは原曲と聴き比べる価値ありで、デ・ニーロの映画「グッド・フェローズ」で使われたのは当然ながら原曲の方でした。

60年代にレコーディングされ、諸事情で未発表だった作品を集めたもの。だが、そこはStonesで、レベルが低いわけではない。基本的にはコンセプトがアルバム向けじゃなかったり、特別企画ものだったり。

1曲目のクリス・ファーロウがヒットさせたナンバー、ストリング入り！のバックでのミックのヴォーカルがいきなりかっこいい。

ちょっとバラッドぽいやつとか、アコギを使った渋いナンバーが多く、ビル・ワイマンの作詞作曲もあったり、と多彩な彼らのセンスを満喫できます。

特に60年代後半のセッションのナンバーはStonesの音が一番彼ら独特のしなやかさを持っていた頃で、非常にレベルも高く必聴。
