2002年日韓Ｗ杯の「日本-ベルギー」戦を完全収録した映像記録作品です。

覚えていますか？
あの日は火曜日でした。
試合は18時に始まりました。
同グループ内ではロシアが一番の強敵とされ、専門家はテレビで根拠の乏しい「ベルギー戦楽観論」を繰り広げていました。

クラブ終わり、仕事終わりに、急いで家路に着いた方。あるいは人波にもまれて埼玉スタジアムで観戦した方。街頭テレビを見上げた方。人影がすっかり消えたバイト先で、テレビもラジオも無くただただヤキモキしていた方。「興味ないぜ」と部屋にこもったものの時折聞こえる家族の歓声に耳をダンボにしてた方。そんな皆さんの視線を、日常を、祈りを、一身に集めた世紀の一戦、それがベルギー戦でした。

前半はやや日本劣勢、両チームとも慎重でちょっと退屈な試合展開でした。
そんなユルユルの空気を引き裂いたのは"荒ぶる猪"ことヴィルモッツのオーバーヘッド。先制されてしまいます。しかしこのゴールを契機として、魂を削った乱打戦の火蓋が切って落とされ…。

…あの試合に興奮された方、全てにオススメのDVDです。
星４つなのは解説・実況がアフレコであること。いまいちライブ感に欠けます。でも逆に、冷静で戦術的な解説が楽しめるという利点も有り…、この点は好みによりけり、でしょうか。

試合は完全ノーカットで収録されており、ハイライトも収録。
実況：八塚浩、解説：早野宏と、かなり良い人選となっているが、
「過去の試合」という前提で話は進んでおり、
「あの時は○○でしたね~」という発言もよく見受けられ、臨場感が無い。
出来れば、リアルタイムで中継したＮＨＫ（実況：栗田、解説：岡田）にして欲しかった。
まあ、解説・実況の声なしで観る事も可能なので、マシである。

試合展開としては、日韓Ｗ杯の日本戦では、私の最も好きな試合である。
中田・小野以外は初めてＷ杯出場という状態で、どれだけ日本が戦えるか？
そんな不安と希望が入り混じる中、緊張して観戦した試合。
先制された時は、「やはり日本はＷ杯に縁が無いのか・・・」等と思っていたが、その後の日本は立派だった。
とにかく、買って損は無い物です。

私は予選リーグの3試合の中ではこの試合が一番好き｡初戦だというのもあるし、鈴木のゴールは感動すら覚えたし、ベルギーも強かった｡完全保存版として発売日に購入してしまった｡
