4.0 out of 5 stars シカゴ、最強のベストアルバム登場。, 2002/10/31
　シカゴ全音源がRhinoに移り、最初に編まれたベストアルバム。これまで出されたベストアルバムは数々あれど、本アルバムは決定盤。買いだな。理由は二つ。
　先ず、初めて34年の全キャリアを俯瞰するものになったこと。初期のColumbiaからFull Moon~Warner~Reprise等を経て自分達のレーベルを立ち上げるまでのすべてのアルバムからの選曲になっている。60年代後半から70年代の空気感いっぱいの1枚目、80年代以降のコンテンポラリー感覚の詰まった2枚目。特に1枚目は、これまでベスト盤では表現が難しかった、70年代までのシカゴをうまくまとめている。

　もう一つは、Rhinoによるリマスタリングが施されていること。これが1枚目と2枚目は微妙に違っていて、それぞれの魅力を引き出している。これはシカゴが自信を持って送り出した通算27枚目のアルバムだ。何で27って分かるかって？ジャケットの花壇に置かれた熊手のハンドルに注目。やっぱりシカゴ、やっぱりRhino、これからのオリジナルアルバム復刻がほんと楽しみ。

僕みたいなシカゴのライトファン向けの２枚組みのベスト。

ディスク１の10など、メッセージ性の強かった初期コロンビア時代の作品から、ディスク２の7などバラードバンドのレッテルを貼られつつもヒット曲を連発したフルムーン時代まで、代表曲を大体網羅している。個人的には出世曲となったディスク１の2、3、18、そして「愛ある別れ」がお勧め。

今までのシカゴのベスト盤を持っている人には必要ないかもしれないが、持っていない人には絶対にお勧め。持っていたのに買う僕みたいな人間もいるけど。

シカゴの大抵のヒット曲を網羅しています。初心者の方にも安心して薦められます。ただ、いくつか曲の途中がカットされていて実に残念です。
