８０年代ｴｸｽｷｭｰﾄのベーシストとして活躍していた、BABYが作った８０年代を代表するハードコアパンク・バンドの１つ。そして、後世に多大なる影響を及ぼしたバンドでもある。そのガスタンクのインディーズ時代のシングルコレクションがこれ。インディーズ時代と言っても、厳密に言うば、「ドグマレコード」からリリースされていた、1stは収録されていない。このCDのお勧め点は「まずは、聴いて欲しい」のである。聴けば他のハードコアとまったく違う独自の色を持っており、メタルファンでも十分に聴く事が出来るのである。１３曲目の「IN THE FIRE」は新しいドラマーとしてPAZZが加入して製作された。ヴァージョンで、当時、「THREE SEX X'MAS」という３枚組みのシングルに付いていた、ソノシートで、「新しいドラマー」の音はこんなんです、という感じのMixingに、最後の「DEAD SONG」は当時、ロッキン'Fの別冊「ｽﾄﾘｰﾄ･ﾌｧｲﾃｨﾝｸﾞ･ﾒﾝ」に付いていた付録。で、名盤の「DEAD SONG」とは別物。
ただし、マイナスポイントはインナーのディスコグラフィが曖昧なところがマイナス。

メジャーデビュー以前に発表されたシングル、12インチ盤のコンピレーションアルバムです。
２nd「Ｍr,Ｇazime」〜「Ｇeronimo」まで一気に聴ける点がＧood！

何より１stの「Devil」「Sex」が収録されているのは嬉しい限りです。
しかしながら常にLiveではラストで「Sex」と共にに演奏していた「Shout」が未収録な事が非常に残念です。

オムニバスアルバムに参加した楽曲も収録していれば更に良かったのだが、
１〜４Thシングルまでほぼ網羅されているので星５つです。

ｘ-ｊａｐａｎを始まりとしたヴィジュアル系バンドの波はいまだに衰えるところを知らず次々と新しいバンドが出てきているが、その、ルーツをたどるとおそらくみんなこのバンド、ガスタンクにたどりつくのではないだろうか。彼ら自身のサウンドはヴィジュアル系バンドのそれとは異なるが、特に初期のｘ-ｊａｐａｎは、彼等から、サウンド、ヴィジュアル共に多大な影響を受けていたことがうかがい知れる。そして、このＣＤはその彼らの初期のシングルを集めた、貴重な作品である。初期のまだハードコアとハードロックの間を浮遊するカテゴライズ不能な、後期のもっとハードロックよりの音とは違う楽曲群を本作では存分に堪能できるのだが、特に、彼らの代表曲でもある　４曲目や１０曲目あたりは軟弱なカッコだけのバンドにはまね出来ない、日本のインディーズロック史上に残る名曲。後、最後に収録されている彼らの代表曲であるDEAD SONG は、通常のアルバムバージョンではなく、当時、雑誌ロッキン・オンに付録としてついたソノシートに収録されたレアな音源のバージョンにて収録されているが、やはりオリジナルのクオリティーには達していないのが残念。しかしこの曲を聴くと、Ｘの代表曲　紅　は、この曲に影響を受けたのでは？と思うのだが、、Ｘのヨシキもガスタンクに影響を受けたといってたこともあるし。（ぱくりとかという意味ではないので、、念のため）
