2001年12月に東京芸術劇場で行われたコンサートのライヴ盤です。指揮・金洪才（キム・ホンジェ）、演奏・新日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団という黄金コンビで、「千と千尋」「BROTHER」「Quartet」など新作初演で披露された曲が収録されてあります。しかし、その中でも一番注目すべきは初めてオケアレンジされた「Kids Return 2001」です。これまでのアンサンブルなどのヴァージョンとは全く違う、力強いそれは誰もが打ちのめされること必至だと思います。この曲だけでCDを買う価値がある、そう断言できるでしょう。

これまで『Kids Return』のメインテーマ曲は様々にアレンジされているが、このオーケストラアレンジ版はその中でも最高と言っていいと思う。大阪公演のSUPER ORCHESTRA NIGHT に行ったがその時も鳥肌が立った。そして再びこのCDで聞いたときも・・・。圧倒的なスピード感で曲は疾走する。一度聞けば他のアレンジ版のテンポを遅く感じてしまうことだろう。本当にこの1曲を聞くためだけでもこのCDを買って損はない。オーケストラ録音ならではの音の広がりも楽しめるだろう。ただ、不満な点を言えばこのCDが録音された公演は東京公演版らしいが、拍手がしょぼいことだ。大阪では本当に5分以上拍手は鳴り止まなかった・・・。

メインではないのかもしれませんが、kids returnの演奏が残念な出来です。
千と千尋はサントラを聴いた方が良い。
