皆さんが言っているように物語の設定自体は非常にベタなんですが、
違和感のない世界感、魅力的なキャラクター、心の底からワクワクや感動が味わえるストーリーに
当時いつの間にか虜になっていました。発売から10年以上経つのに、最近また引っ張り出してやっています。
何度やっても面白いのは、それだけこのゲームのクオリティが素晴らしいものなのだと思ってください。
そろそろ初代PS作品が遊べるハードが減少してると思われる昨今、気付いたらこの名作を味わえなかった
ということがないよう、今のうちに是非一度プレイしてみてください。感動を約束します。

他の皆さんがレビューで書かれているとおり、「王道」のRPGです。
ですが、このゲームほど冒険の素晴らしさを感じさせられるゲームはありません。

このゲームは、例えるなら旅行をしている感覚に似ていると思います。
知識でしか知らない土地に想いを馳せ、ワクワクとドキドキに胸を踊らせながら目的地に行く。
そして、現地を直で体験し楽しんだり、驚いたり……そういう純粋な気持ちを味わえる、まさに「世界を冒険する」ゲームだと思います。

ファンタジー小説や映画など世界に憧れる人にこそ、このゲームをやってもらいたいと、自分は思います。必ず感動し、これ以上ない楽しさを体験できますから。
実際、自分がそのひとりでしたので(笑)

話はありがち、キャラ設定もベタ…だけど面白い。数多くのRPGやったけどホントに冒険してるような気分になった唯一のRPG。絶妙な難易度、秀逸なBGMをはじめ、シンプルだけど成長の過程がしっかり描かれていて仲間との別れもあるストーリーには知らないうちに引き込まれていきました。映像では今のゲームにはかなわないが、それでもやってみて欲しいです。今のゲームにはないホントの冒険と感動が待っています。
