古くからあるソニックシリーズのドリームキャスト版。
基本はアドベンチャーモードで街を探索してイベントをこなしストーリを進めていくこと。
もちろん、ストーリーの随所で硬派なアクションステージがあります。
ストーリーは6キャラ分用意されているし、各アクションステージにタイムアタックも設けられてやりこみ要素は十分。

アクションが好きでまだやっていない人におすすめ。

お馴染みの２Ｄアクションから、３Ｄになったソニック。
個人的に２Ｄ時のソニックが好きだった自分は、一番最初投げ出しました。
その理由は「アドベンチャー」という所にあります。
数あるアクションステージを次々にクリアしていくのではなく、キャラクターが街中を歩き、人と話したりして謎を解かねばなりません。

そしてそれを終えると、初めてスピード感溢れるアクションステージが楽しめます。

このもどかしさに最初は投げ出したものの、ステージをこなす内にだんだん楽しくなってきました。
３Ｄによるアクションステージは、正に｢爽快｣の一言。
奥行きのあるステージをあっという間に走り去り、気付けばそのすがすがしさに酔うはず。

特に全体的に｢音楽｣がどれも素晴らしく、爽快感が更に加速します。
音楽の為だけでも、買って後悔はしません。

加え、ステージをクリアすると｢ソニックマーク｣なるものが手に入り、それを集める楽しさもあります。
全部で100個以上、全部集めるのはよっぽどやり込まないとまず無理。

初心者は軽く楽しめ、やり込み派も十二分に楽しめる、間違いなく良作な一本です。

　このゲームはただ単に２Ｄから３Ｄ化したアクション・ゲームではない。従来のゲームシステムの３Ｄ化をはじめ”６ストリー・アドベンチャー”と”育成シュミレーションゲーム”などさまざまなアイデアを融合させた”当時史上最強のマルチ・アクション・アドベンチャーゲーム”なのだ。
　各ステージに用意されているミニ・ゲーム（ピンボールゲームやシューティング、釣りゲームやチャオの育成レースなどなど）の充実ぶりは他のゲームの追随を許さないどころか、アクションゲームの頂点の座を事実上”勝ち取った作品！”なのだ。
　だが、それだけではない。エンディングを見て驚いたのが、音楽の総合担当がな、なんとあの”Philippe Saisse(フィリップ・セス)”だったのだ！。フィリプ・セスといえば”Rameau's Nephew”で知られる実力派ミュージシャンなのだが、たしかにスパイダーマンの大ファンなのは１ｓｔアルバムの解説書に載ってはいたが、まさかソニックのサウンド担当を任されるとは・・・経緯はどうあれ、これは”スゴイこと！”なのです。なるほど、どのステージのどのＢＧＭも雰囲気がリアルに伝わって来ると思っていたら、改めて納得したものです。
　残念ながらこの事実は当時あまり話題にはなりませんでしたが、このゲームがいかにスケールの大きい完成度の高いものだったかは発売から１０年過ぎた今更ながら申し訳ないのですが、改めて高い評価をしたいと思いレビューしました、ハイ。
