紫式部の人生と源氏物語をオーバーラップさせるという試みは評価できると思う。しかし、そのために紫式部の心情についても源氏の登場人物の心情についても充分に表現しきれていず、どちらもが中途半端になってしまっている点が残念。キャスティングについては全く個人の意見となるが、源氏-天海，藤壺-高島，頭の中将-風間などはかなり満足。紫の上-常盤については、もう少し和装の似合う女優を、と感じてしまう。また、他の方々が述べておられるように、松田聖子の唐突で不自然な歌はこの作品にとってかなり痛いものとなっており、脚本家や監督の意図が全く理解できない。

光源氏、藤壺の宮、紫式部のキャスティングは非常に満足。
なんといっても品があるし、立ち振る舞いも美しい！それだけでも見る価値はあるかも。
ただあれだけの長編小説を映画にするのは大変とはいえ、場面展開がとっても強引。松田聖子の歌も状況にそぐわないし、何で出てくるのか本当に不思議。
紫の上はもっと落ち着きのある女優にやってほしかった。
ただのわがままな女性にしか映らないし、子供っぽい。

　光源氏の生い立ちや女性遍歴などはサラッとふれてありますが、源氏物語を語っているわけではなかったように思えます。かと言って恋物語に仕立ててあるのでもなく、全体的に中途半端な印象が残りました。

　松田聖子さんが歌姫の役で出演されていました。ストーリーの途中でいきなり出てきて歌を唄ってまた消えて行くのですが、どう関係があるのか全然わかりませんでした。これは制作者側の構成の問題だと思いました。効果的にというよりは、場がしらけるだけにしか思えませんでしたから。

　回想形式もあんまり度々となると、物語に入り込むまもなく返ってダラダラしてしまうのではないでしょうか。豪華女優陣の競演が確かに華やかで、それだけに何か「もったいない」気がして仕方がありませんでした
