久々にいいゴジラを見た。最近のゴジラは善だか悪だかハッキリしていなかったところがあったから、完全悪役になったのは嬉しかった。
特撮も、前作の反省を改善するかのような出来。デジタル合成のカットは減ったがその分一つ一つの密度が濃い。

出てくる怪獣もみなマニアの心をくすぐるようなメンツ。当初のバラゴン、アンギラス、バランの出てくる映画も見てみたいものだ。
バラゴンとゴジラの戦いや、潜水艦を飲み込んじゃったり(少しひいたが)など、エンターテイメント性も豊かである。

金子修介監督を始め、平成ガメラ系のスタッフによる異色ゴジラ。白目や英霊の設定（怪老人の単なる主張とも取れるが、、）など、従来のゴジラとは違う要素にとまどうファンも多いだろうが、自分は抵抗なく入り込めた。序盤からバラゴンを倒すところまでは傑作。ところが、その後の人気怪獣対決はミレゴジ以前の平成ゴジラ風になってしまった。当初企画のように、バランやアンギラスが出ていたら、と思うと残念で仕方ない。特にファイナル・ウォーズでアンギラスがいい感じに作られていただけにね。
もっとも、その３匹を出したとして、この作品より商業的に成功したかと問われれば、かなり難しいと言わざるを得ない。このへんのバランスで、今作がギリギリの線だったのかも知れない。アメリカでもＳｃｉ−Ｆｉチャンネルで何度も再放送されている人気作品なので、一番怖いゴジラを楽しんで欲しい。

ゴジラが出た焼津から家が近いとゆう理由で父に頼み行きました。そして映画館でゴジラがついに現れ大興奮。（焼津港は何度もみてるため）でも「あれ？」とその時思いました。「こいつはこんなに怖いのか？」恥ずかしいですがつながりをまったく知りませんでした。前２作の存在すら知りませんでしたゴジラが恐ろしく巨大と感じました。でもそれに勇敢に立ち向かう三聖獣・防衛軍。これが共闘する。ここが好きです。
