3年前にリリースされた「A」に続く、自らのイニシャルからタイトルをとったシングル、「H」｡3つのサマーソングを堪能できる、ミニアルバム的、コンセプトアルバム的要素をもつ作品です｡

手拍子で始まる「independent」は、ノリの良いアッパーチューン｡「July 1st」は、初夏の高揚した気持ちを歌った曲で、ただ明るいだけではなく、夏のもの寂しさをも感じさせます｡そして最後を飾るのは、夏の風物詩をタイトルに持ってきたバラード、「HANABI」｡まず、静寂の中をゆっくりと打つ鼓動にも花火にも似た音に引き込まれる｡徐々に音が重なり、サビに移り変わるときの波引くような入り方がまさに花火が開いたかのようで、浜崎の歌声も最高潮を迎える｡

日本の夏のセンチメンタリズムを匂わせているこの曲｡他の2曲と同様、曲名が詞中に出てこないのですが、この「HANABI」という言葉が、恋人への想いを募らせる発火装置としての機能を果たしながら、ぬるく切ない熱帯夜の情景を浮かび上がらせる、抽象的な表現として用いられています｡『あいたいよ　ねぇあいたいよ』と悲痛に歌う彼女の歌声も作品の感傷的な世界に溶け込んでいます｡

以上の3曲それぞれに浜崎の異なる顔をみることができるこの作品｡特に3曲目でみせる歌唱力に注目して頂きたいです｡メロディーが美しく歌詞もストレートな「HANABI」は、テーマが曖昧で感情の起伏が浅い他の浜崎の曲と違って聴き手の心に訴えかけてくるものがあります｡夏の夜に一度聴いてみてはどうでしょうか｡

「independent」と「July 1st」はノリのいい曲で夏バテで
疲れていたりしているときに聞くと元気が出ます。
「HANABI」は夏のバラードといった感じで歌詞がとても切ないです。
遠距離恋愛している方や、失恋してしまった方が聞くと癒されると思います。
どれもいい曲なので３曲とも通して何回も聞きたくなると思いますよ！

昔のアルバム･シングルと比べれば一目瞭然。聴く度にひどくなっている。楽曲自体は良いと思うけど、3曲A面や初回限定3パターンジャケットという売るための手段は許せない。もっと歌声がきれいで歌が上手な人に歌って欲しい。
