   スウェーデン出身のマグナス・ジングマークとオスカー・シモンソンが、ヨーロッパ屈指のポストジャズ・レーベルから、シングル「Summer Sun」に続いてリリースしたのが本作だ。クープの世界では「協同作業」が重要な鍵である。アップテンポでけだるいリズムのなかに、ボサ・ノヴァと、ところどころエレクトロニックの影響を受けた音が放りこまれる一方で、ずらりとそろえたヴォーカリストたちによって、この音楽の調和を完成させているのだ。

   セシリア・スターリンはきらびやかなタイトル曲とラウンジコアな「Baby」の2曲で宙を舞い、十代にしか見えないユキミ・ナガノは「Summer Sun」の輝きを一層強めている。そのほかにも、アール・ジンガー（元ガリアーノのフロントマン、ロブ・ギャラガーの別名義）が「Modal Mile」を語りかけるように歌い、ジャイルズ・ピーターソンのお気に入りのフォーク詩人テリー・キャリアーが「In a Heartbeat」にひょっこり顔を出している。制作期間2年以上、収録時間30分強の本作は、愛蔵盤にしておきたいアルバムだ。（Kingsley Marshall, Amazon.co.uk）

Sweden's Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson follow their "Summer Sun" single with Waltz For Koop on one of Europe's finest post-jazz labels. In Koop's world, cooperation is the key; throwing bossa and the occasional electronic influence into fast and loose rhythmics while an array of vocalists complete the circle. Cecilia Stalin soars above both the glittering title track and the loungecore of "Baby"; teenager-to-watch Yukimi Nagana turns up the brightness for "Summer Sun". Elsewhere, Earl Zinger (aka one-time Galliano frontman Rob Gallagher) provides the teachings of "Modal Mile", while Giles Peterson's favourite folk poet Terry Callier crops up in "In a Heartbeat". 美しい音楽が好きなら一度聞いてみることをお薦めします。クラブミュージックの聴いたことのない人でも、ジャズについてほとんど予備知識がない人でも、あるいは洋楽ってちょっと敷居が高くて聞けないなと思っている人でもこのアルバムはきっと美しい音楽が好きな方には響くものがあると思います。

Giles Petersonも強力プッシュのKoop！4/4に慣れた耳にはワルツ調の4/3、8/5のリズムはとても新鮮で、思わずステップを踏んでしまうことでしょう。サンプリングを施すにしろ、生音を大切にした作りで温故知新といった感じ。そしてなによりヴォーカルの使い方がすばらしい！ユキミ・ナガノ嬢とミカエル・サンディン嬢の歌声が時に優しく、時に物悲しく響きます。『In a Heartbeat』のようなジャズが本来持つクールな響きと『Summer Sun』のようなハッピーな楽曲とがうまく調和し、夏の昼下がりをステキに演出してくれるはず！

最近、クラブジャズは、ボサノバ等のラテンのリズムでシャカシャカいわせるだけのワンパターンな個性の無いものが多すぎて、嫌気がさしていました。曲とアーティストを一致させるような特徴が無いのが不満でした。
でも、そんな時に名DJジャイルスピーターソンのアルバムに収録されていたWaltz for Koopを聴き、これだ!と思いました。この曲には個性があり、他の曲とは明らかに違うイメージを頭に残してくれるのです。
そしてなんと言っても美しい!!アルバムを買って全て聴いてみましたが、多彩で飽きがきません。
クラブジャズに、人まねではなく、もっとこういう多彩な表現のできるアーティストが増えてほしいです。
ちなみに私は同じ理由でPOVOも好きです。
