製作者サイドによると今後も続編を作り続けるらしい人気(?)シリーズの第3弾で、今回主人公Andyを演じるのはテレビ界出身のJustin Whalinです。脚本のDon Manciniの他、Chucky人形作りにDavid KirschnerとKevin Yagherのコンビ等々、メイン・スタッフはオリジナルのままですが、監督はJack Benderなる人物に変わっています。ストーリー的には玩具屋の社長を殺害してAndyの通う陸軍士官学校に潜入したChuckyの暴れっぷりが見所になるはずなのですが、実際には全体の大部分を占める学校シーンには特に派手さはなく、やはり見所らしい見所はラストの遊園地での対決シーンにあると思います。この映画の雰囲気は真夜中の病院的に暗いのですが、その原因は主人公役のJ.Whalinとその恋人役のPerry Reevesの2人が何とも地味で殆ど陰険なカップルだからに他なりません。
