Gunsと違ってもう４枚目にもなってしまうIzzyのソロです。いい意味で肩の力の抜けたロックナンバーのオンパレード。１０曲なんてあっという間です。１なんて「Bye Bye Johnny」のパクリみたいだし、Stonesのカヴァーやってるけど「Please Go Home」なんて全然忘れてたような曲だし、本当にIzzyらしく我が道を行くという感じです。売れる売れないなんてくだらない事考えるより、ただ好きな音楽を好きな奴等とやってるだけという感じがとてもカッコイイと思う。ソロの中では最高傑作だと思います。

曲が書けない(??)アクセルを尻目にもう出てしまったイジーの5作目。相変わらずのメンバーで相変わらずのR'N'R。テロさえなければ来日もしていたという彼がヒマを持てあまして、余りある傑作を作っちゃいました。遊びの片手間で作曲してレコーディングしてるのにこんなに高品質でいいのでしょうか？？スラッシュ+ダフ+マットの新プロジェクトでも楽曲提供するという彼はやっぱり天才です。

マイペースで活動を続けているイジーの作品ですが、基本線はずっと変わらず、ただひたすらシンプルな”ロックンロール”。今作でも、1曲目から爽快にすっ飛ばしてくれます。酒とタバコでやられてしまったような（？）かすれたヴォーカルもグッド。タイトルからも連想できますが、ドライヴには持ってこい！の1枚です。僕の車には、ロリー・ギャラガーの「ステージ・ストラック」とこの「オン・ダウン・ザ・ロード」の2枚だけは、絶対に欠かせません。ついつい気持ち良くアクセルを踏み込んでしまう、ドライヴ感たっぷりの痛快なロックンロール・アルバムです。
