穏やかに流れる時間。とても心地よくアレンジされたオーケストレーション、優しい歌声。複雑で巧妙だけれど、無理なく施された和声と、織り込まれるように慎重に作られたメロディー。サウダージもサンバもよく分からないけれど、このとても練られたアルバムは素晴らしい。So niceのゆるやかにコードを辿るメロディー、Batucadaの目まぐるしく入れ替わるメロディー、ルーツとかそういうのじゃない。美しい和声とメロディーがあって、それに相応しいアレンジがあって、そういう良さみたいなのが詰まったアルバム。例えばiPODなんかに入れて他の曲とシャッフルされて聴くような感じではなくて、ホントに時々部屋で聴かれるようなアルバム。

一時Leon Russellのような風貌で大変身というか血迷っていたMarcos Valleですが、こんな好青年だったんです。肝心なアルバムですが、おしゃれでかわいい！！　それに、このアルバムの収録曲は他のミュージシャンにジャンルを超えてカバーされていたり、コンンピレーションアルバムに収録されていたりと聞き覚えのある曲が多いはず。きっとお気に入りの一枚になるはずです。

混声デュエットはボサノバの魅力だが、この作品はその最右翼といえる。
マルコス･ヴァーリとアナ･マリアの夫婦デュエットは、
他のボサノバにない新鮮さをもっている。

ワルター･ワンダレイによるカバーがヒットした「So Nice (Summer Sumba)」
により一躍時の人となったマルコス･ヴァーリは、
ワンダ･サーが抜けたセルジオ･メンデス'65に加わるために
アナ･マリアを連れてアメリカに渡る。

セルジオ･メンデスとしての期間は短かった。
しかし、そのままアメリカの地で精力的に活動したヴァーリの
ボサノバ最高傑作とも呼べる作品が本作である。

アレンジはヴァーリに遅れてアメリカの地を踏んだデオダード。
彼の卓越したオーケストレーション手腕はここで取り上げる必要もないが、
本作品のいわゆるボサノバとはまた違った緊張感は
彼によるところが大きいのではないだろうか。

2曲目の「Crickets Sing For Anamaria」、9曲目「Batucada」の
スピード感あふれるサンバは爽快というより他はない。

官能的でありながら爽快ささえ感じさせる混声デュエットをご賞味あれ。
