70年代後半~80年代初頭を中心に、大ヒット曲を連発したフォリナーのベストアルバムです。フォリナーのサウンドの特徴としては、ソウルフルなルーグラムのボーカル、クリムゾンのオリジナルメンバーでもあったイアンマクドナルドを中心とするサウンドアレンジも挙げられると思いますが、やはり最大の特徴は、ミックジョーンズの作る曲の良さではないでしょうか。しかも、236といった美しいバラードから、1519等の力強いロックンロール、そしてとりわけ初期の曲に多いフォリナーらしいアクを持った曲等々、バラエティに富んでいることも大きな特徴だと思います。とにかく圧倒的に良い曲の並んだベストアルバムだけに多くの音楽ファンに聴いて欲しいアルバムです。

リード・ヴォーカルのルー・グラムが脳腫瘍から奇跡の復活をしたことは最近知ったのだが、このベストは彼のボーカルがまだ冴えまくっていた頃の作品群である。
　初期の最高傑作のひとつ、コーラスがいかにも７０年代っぽいFeel like the first time. アクの強いR＆B風の曲であるCold as ice.ライブで盛り上がりそうなHot blooded. 売れ線狙いのDouble vision.日本人の好みそうなメロディーラインのHead games.ちなみにこの曲の収録された同名のアルバムは、ジャケットがレイプを 連想させるとして当時、物議を醸した。イントロが絶妙な”Urgent”は当時のシンセ・テクノロジーの粋を集めて作られたような曲だ。このあたりの曲は世界的に有名なマット・ラングのプロデュースによる。美しいバラード曲、Waiting for a girl like youは意外にもフォリナー初の全米No.1らしい。シンガソングライターとしてのミック・ジョーンズの真骨頂といえるI wanna know,,,は、ルーとゴスペルとのヴォーカルのかけあいが感動的である。この当時、ハードロックバンドがゴスペル風のコーラスを取り入れるのはかなり斬新だった。このあたりまでがセールス的にもフォリナーの全盛期か。
　昔よくフォリナーを聞いていた私としては、今活躍中のバンドがけっこうフォリナーの影響を受けていたりして面白いと思う。温故知新の一枚です。
