これまでの大野雄二トリオ中心から「ピアノトリオにこだわらない幅広い意味でのジャズ全般」にコンセプトを拡大した新たなアプローチによる新生「LUPIN THE THIRD JAZZ」のスタートとなる本作は、大野ルパン25年をテーマに'77年から'80年までの「ルパン三世」アルバム3枚から主に楽曲をセレクト。
ルパンヴォーカリストの一人ソニア・ローザによるポルトガル語バージョン4曲を含むボサノヴァや、かつてのルパンサウンドを思わせるフュージョンサウンドをフィーチャーした内容となっています。

『ルパン三世』の音楽やそれにインスパイアされて書き上げた楽曲を演奏するシリーズの4作目。これまでは4ビートが中心だったが、今回はフュージョンやボサ・ノヴァに料理されているところが魅力だ。4曲にソニア・ローザが加わっているのも見逃せない。

２００２年８月にＴＶ放映されたルパン三世で流れた曲が盛り込まれている。これまでの'Lupin the Third JAZZ I, II, III'のまさに'jazzy'な音づくりから一転して、ボサノバとフュージョンにアレンジされている。ブラジル人ボーカリスト、ソニア・ローザを迎え、彼女の甘くとろけるようなキュート・ボイスとボサノバのソフィスティケイトされたリズムとハーモニーがたまらない。特に'Lupin the Third','Memory of Smile','Love Squall'はお薦め！！

大野さんがルパンの音楽を手がけてから25年になる2002年のレコーディング。
”Bossa & Fusion”とタイトルが付いていて「Lupin the Third Jazz」のシリーズ前3作とは趣きが違うように思えるが、ジャンル名が違ってもやっぱり「大野サウンド！」。
それは大野さん自身の中でジャンルの線引きがなく、常に根底にあるのは「Jazz」であり、どれもが大野さんの音楽である、ということ。
はじめに聴いて感激したのは、1978年の最初のルパンのオリジナルサウンドトラックに入っていて、TVシリーズでも強く耳に残っていた「Lonely For The Road」と「Magnum Dance」がさらにカッコよくなって甦っていた事！ゾクゾクします。
そして、5曲目がまた大野さんの魅力爆発！といった感じでノリノリ。
ソニアによるポルトガル語のルパンお馴染みのナンバーもお洒落だ。
ラストのピアノソロも味わい深い、いい音。

凝り過ぎないアドリブ、過度のアピールのない細やかな音づくりは、本物で勝負できる懐の広~い達人、大野氏だからなせるワザ！
ほんとうにしっとりと聴けて、飽きのこないアルバムです。

大野雄二さんのルパンJAZZ4作目です。
ルパンのボサ･ノヴァ？と、聴くまでは思っていましたが、
アレンジが強い(個人差有ると思いますが)2ND、3RDJAZZよりも
よりオリジナルに近い曲調で、ルパン作品が浮かんできます。
また、ソニアローザさん(ブラジル人ヴォーカリスト)が参加。
その優しい歌声にグッと曲全体の深みがまします。
ルパンシリーズが好きな人、JAZZが好きな人、 幅広く楽しんでいただける1枚です。
