肝臓癌に侵された渥美清の体力の衰えは誰の目にも明白で、撮影現場にいた人は皆、この作品が寅さんシリーズの最終作になると分かっていたのだと思います。声に力が無く、普通に座っているのも辛そうな寅さんは痛々しかったです。その中で、寅さんを看病し、その死を看取らんばかりのリリーの存在は大きかったのです。ストーリーはもはや満男と泉が主人公になっていますが、二人の明るい将来が暗示され、最終作にほっとするものを感じさせてくれました。合掌！

世界最長シリーズの掉尾である。しかし、お世辞にも楽しいとはいえない。死病に冒された渥美清はいうまでもなく、マドンナの浅丘も、さくらの倍賞も、社長も、おいちゃんもおばちゃんも、全員老い、疲れている。切れた筈の満男と後藤久美子のよりが恥ずかしげもなく戻っても、彼らに何のシンパシーも抱けない身としてはどうでもいいことだ。
「惜しまれるうちに散るのが華」という俗諺を捧げたい。
星五つの評価はご祝儀である。
