このニルソンのアルバムは、そっと心の中にしまっておきたい宝物です。アメリカポピュラー音楽の歴史を探訪をするかのようなノスタルジアな曲で、それは、彼自身の心の奥底への探訪でもある、粋でユーモアのある詩。3オクターブの声域を持ち、一人で多重録音を駆使したコーラス・ハーモニーの繊細さは何度も信じれない思いをします。でもニルソンは、そんな表面的な技巧より、内的な表現力の豊さにあり、メロディ、叙情も素晴らしく比喩に富んだユーモアと誠実なヒューマニズム、優しさにあふれています。ニルソンの自作曲はどれも良くてはずせませんが、8.メイビー、10.孤独のニューヨークは初期のニルソンの代表する佳曲とされています。1.2.11.も良いし、4.のレノン/マッカートニー、12.J.J.ウォーカー、13.ラメ?ディ・ニューマンのカヴァーも出色です。ジョン・レノンが惚れ込んだニルソン。他のアルバムも『AERIAL BALLET』（空中バレエ）、『NILSSON SINGS NEWMAN』（ランディ・ニューマンを歌う）、『A LITTLE TOUCH OF SCHMILSSON IN THE NIGHT』（夜のシュミルソン）は心に染みる宝物です。

この作品は無垢な少年のようにほのぼのとした世界観で、やさしい気分にしてくれる作品です。　
子犬、熊など動物をテーマにしたかわいらしい歌や、都会の生活を語った歌など彼の美しい世界がアルバム全体に浸透しています。
またこのころのニルソンの声は非常に美しく、このアルバムのドリーミーな世界にとてもマッチしています。
アルバムの構成も素晴らしく、ニルソンの最高傑作といっても過言でないほどの名盤です。

ポップでもロックでもない、彼独自の（ほのぼの路線）の傑作です。
オリジナルの魅力はもちろん、ビートルズやランディ・ニューマンのカヴァーも絶品。
最初のグラミー獲得（うわさの男）も弾みになったような、自信たっぷりの世界です。
