通算５作目、パティ・ラベル率いるラベルとの共演盤で、Ｒ＆Ｂの名曲のカヴァー集です。リマスターのボーナスとして本作には、後に「フィルモア・イースト」という形で単独に発表された音源から３曲収録されています。また、そのリマスターの効果か、アナログやこれ以前のＣＤで聞かれた表題曲のローラの高音での割れが改善されています。「フィルモア・イースト」が正式に出た今、ボーナスよりもこちらの方が個人的にはずっと嬉しいです。

｢イーライと13番目の懺悔」｢ニューヨーク･テンダベリー」と立て続けに名作を放ったこの時期のローラ。それに続いて、古典的なR＆Bをカヴァーした本作で話題を集めた。
ソングライターとしても天才的な彼女だが､このアルバムでは天才ソウルシンガーとしての彼女の尽きぬ才能を存分に知ることが出来る。

アカペラ「アイ･メット･ヒム･オン･ア･サンデイ」で始まり､最高にファンキーな｢ダンシング･イン･ザ･ストリート」エモーショナルに愛を歌い上げる「ゴナ･テイク･ア･ミラクル」。美しく力強いファンキーで高らかな歌声。これほど歌う喜びにあふれた声を他に知らない。

子供の頃､ハーレムのストリートで仲間たちとドゥーワップをしていたというローラ。その原点に立ち返ったかのような名演。これぞソウルミュージック！

71年当時、黒人音楽にﾄﾞﾝﾄﾞﾝのめり込んでいた頃に、ふと手にした1枚

(ﾓﾁﾛﾝ　ﾋﾞﾆｰﾙLP)でしたが、Lauraのその一途なR&Bへの想いが伝わる歌いに嬉しくなったのを思い出します。声自体は白人系の奇麗なもので、決してSoulfulではないけれど、まだ若々しいLABELLEとのｺﾝﾋﾞﾈｰｼｮﾝ（かなりfeatureしている）が黒っぽさをだしているしてｱﾚﾝｼﾞの良さも相まって素晴らしい出来のAlbumで、保存盤としてCD買い直す価値は充分。Carol　Kingが20代の女性などにも見直されている昨今、このAlbumも匹敵する個性と価値があるのでは？日本ではそれ程知名度はないかも。へたな、Daina　RossのAlbum買うよりズットお値打ちｱﾘ
