七話、みずほの妹まほに振り回される二人、しかし桂とみずほの思いを知り
まほは桂をみずほの夫として認めるが、まほもまた、桂への思いが・・
八話、小石がついに桂へ告白、しかし桂の心の中にはすでに、みずほでいっぱい、すれ違いの多い二人だったが、最後は、二人布団の中で・・・・

　私はつい最近、このアニメを初めて見た。大したきっかけはなかったのたが何気なく観始めたのである。タイトルから勝手な先入観でこのアニメは低俗なものだろうと半信半疑であったが、否、それは全く誤りであった。最初の話をみて、その独特な雰囲気、ユニークな登場人物、そして何よりも恋愛というもっとも人間の興味をそそる切実な問題をユーモアをまじえ展開するこの世界にあっというまに引き込まれてしまった。そしてついつい、全話を一度にあっという間に観てしまった。舞台は長野県木崎湖畔という片田舎であるが、登場人物が素朴な田舎者ではなく現代的な感覚と雰囲気を備えてはいるが、校長が言っているように根は良い者たちであることがまずすがすがしくて良い。そして、それらの登場人物を通じて青春時代に誰もが一度は経験する、異性への慕情、嫉妬といったものがどの話にも光と影のごとく交錯し、それが作品に深みと陰影を与えているが、決して嫌味たらしく、不純でないところに観る者は共感を覚えるのではなかろうか。また、登場人物がそれぞれ個性を持っており、存在感を示していることも素晴らしい。そして、それら一人一人の言葉が直接、また間接的に物語の進行に彩りを添え、全体をしっかりと構成しているのも見事である。そのような、一編の抒情詩のなかでとりわけ私が好きな話はここに収められている第８話「長い夜」である。話の詳細は自分で拝見していただくとして、タイトル通りの物語である。しかし、実際の物理的時間の意味ではなく、私たち人間が嫌というほど体験している、心理的時間の意味で「長い」ということである。ここには、我々人間本来のゆっくりした時間の一瞬一瞬の切なさ、美しさが投影され、すべてが一瞬一瞬からなっていることを私に痛切に感じさせるものが宝石のように詰め込まれている。多忙な現代社会のとりわけ若い人たちにぜひ観て、考えてほしい物語である。最後に私的な事であるが、私は登場人物の中で、縁川小石が最も好きである。
