　以前使用していたウイルスバスター2001と比べると、多めにリソースを消費するようです。WinMe で使用していますが、フルインストールの初期状態では、あっという間にリソースを消費し尽くしてしまいます。対策として、『保護者機能』のインストールを止め、『AlertTracker』を表示しないようにしました。これで大分良くなります。

　なお、一時的に無効にすることやタスクバーのアイコンを表示しないように出来ますが、消費量は変わらないようです。

　アンチウイルス機能では、オンラインメールソフトの鶴亀メールでも確実に検出してくれます。パターンのアップデートも頻繁に行われています。

　ファイヤーウォール機能はかなり高機能です。ただし、初心者には高機能すぎるかもしれません。『広告ブロック機能』によって、上手く表示されないウェブサイトやバナーがあり、設定変更の必要があります。原因に気がつくまでは悩まされることになるでしょう。

今まで使っていた前バージョン(2001)の定義ファイル更新の期限が切れたので、乗り換えてみました。
僕は購入の際にショップでもらった冊子を参照しながらインストールをしたので気付いたのですが、インストール前に「Win XPを使っている場合はファイアウォールを無効にする」「前バージョンはアンインストールしておく」という記述が付属のマニュアルでは小さすぎるし、その方法についての説明がないのは不親切だと思う。
インターネットアクセス制御機能は、素人には許可と遮断の判断がつきにくく、有効に機能しているのかわからない。

プライバシー制御機能は、そもそもパスワードなどの個人情報をわざわざ登録しておいて大丈夫なのか不安に感じた。
前バージョンで特に問題なく使えていたので、今回も大きな問題はないだろうとは思う。

かなり強力な機能を持ったファイアウォール＋AntiVirusです。Windows2000で使うには何も問題ありません。むしろ、高機能な分、勉強が必要です。何しろインストールした瞬間、ネットワークから自分のマシンが消えてしまうんですから。Ping打っても反応しなくなるし、ネットワークコンピュータをクリックしても発見できないのです。

今、自分のマシンがどのようなセッティングにあるのか？常に意識しながら使っていかなければならないので、初心者よりも上級者向けといったところでしょうか。ただ、勉強するだけの価値はあると思いますよ。ウィルスバスターのようなお手軽なソフトと違って、かなり歯ごたえがあります。自分のマシンを本当に保護するというセキュリティ意識の高い中級者以上向けでしょう。
