   シャーウッドはパンク全盛期からUKダブ・レゲエ・シーン周辺の重要人物であり続けてきただけに、本作が最初のフル・アルバムになるとは少々意外だ。だからといって、シャーウッドが今までに意義ある功績を残していないと思われては困る。影響力のあるレーベル、On-U Soundの実力者として、プライマル・スクリーム、ナイン・インチ・ネイルズ、リー“スクラッチ”ペリーらの作品でプロデューサーを務めており、ダンスホールのリズム、硬質で耳を刺すようなダブ、各地の伝統に根ざしたワールド・ミュージック、電子的なインダストリアル・サウンドを一手に引き受け、融合させてきたパイオニアなのだ。

   本作は、これまでシャーウッドが探求してきたことを極限まで突き詰めたもので、ダブの影響下にあるエコー、ディレイ、ヘヴィなベースが基本的なトーンをつくる。そんなサウンドに多数のゲストが独自のひねりを加えている。参加者は、デジタル・ダンス・ミュージックの敏腕プロデューサーであるレンキー、インド人ヴォーカリストのハリ・ハラン、レゲエの巨人スライ＆ロビー、「The Ignorant Version」でヴォーカルを担当する、シャーウッドの幼い娘たちなどだ。多様な文化がぎゅう詰めにされ、楽しくも無国籍なサウンドを聴かせてくれる。その結果、本作は、目を見張るほどユニークな仕上がりとなった。（Louis Pattison, Amazon.co.uk）

内容は文句なく素晴しかった。キャリアの集大成。何故今まで作品を残していなかったかが謎なくらい。が、さらに謎なのが、こんなパンク精神丸出しのタイトルつけといてcccdであるということ。そこにがっかり。まあ、本人のせいじゃないけどね。

2003年リリース。エイドリアン・シャーウッドの初めてのソロ・アルバムである。

1958年生まれのエイドリアン・シャーウッドほど自身のアルバム以外からじわじわとその実力を知らしめた例は少ないのではないか、と思える。デペッシュ・モード、ポップ・ウィル・イート・イットセルフ、シニード・オコナー、ナイン・インチ・ネイルズのリミックス。それ以上にOn-Uの主催者。audio activeのプロデューサーとほとんどダブの後ろ盾みたいになってからのこのソロ・アルバムである。普通の人と順序が逆転している。

で、どんな音楽をやっているかなと聴けばやっぱりエイドリアン・シャーウッドの音なのだ。（●＾o＾●）日本盤のみ『ブーガルー(ザ・ドロウニング・ノット・ウェイヴィング・ミックス)』がボーナス・トラックとして入ってる。聴きこむほどその凄さにシビれる。結構アナログ好きだな、と感じる。何しろ現代最高のミュージシャンの一人には間違いなく、必聴盤だ。赤にカエルのジャケットがヤケに眩しい。
