この種の商品の場合、中身に関して論じても意味は無いであろう。あまりにも有名な作品のアニヴァーサリー・エディション、ということに成れば、買う者は何が何でも買うであろうから。今回は従って、作品の中身ではなく「商品」に関する情報を書いておく。偶然知った話なのであるが、これから買う可能性のある人、そして何よりも大切なのは、これを発売当初に既に買っていた人にとっては重要であるはずである。この商品、実は2回事故が発生している。発売当初出荷当時には、CD1の左右のミックスが逆に成っていたらしい。またジャケット・ブックレットの構造上の問題もあり、そのためメーカーは一旦対策措置を出した。当然これらの問題を解決した物を再出荷したわけだが、何故だか知らぬが、ジャケット・ブックレットの構造上の問題は、再出荷において再び発生し、2回目の対策が成された。つまり、問題が全て解決された「商品」は第3回目のヴァージョンということに成るわけである。このメーカーの場合「BBCセッションズ」の初回限定3枚組の時にも事故が発生している（この時には、同じ曲の同じ録音を2回入れてしまっていた）。この時にも、今回のアニヴァーサリー・エディションに関しても、メーカー側としては、メーカーに送り返せば、正しい商品と交換し郵送料を返却するという形で対応しているそうである。最終的なヴァージョンが出荷されたのは、つい先日のことであるそうだ。であるから、早々と買ってしまった人はメーカーに問い合わせるべきであろうし、これから買おうという人に関しても、店頭に並んでいる物が新しく入荷した物であることを確認してから購入すべきであろう。最近のレコード屋は商品知識の乏しい店員が少なくないため注意が必要である。尚、メーカーは事故を認め可能な範囲内で対応しており好感が持てるが、もう少し分かりやすい形でアナウンスすべきであろう。

Disk1の方はリマスター盤と言うことで期待はしていなかったのですが、ダイナミックレンジが拡がったのか、音の強弱がハッキリして曲のメリハリがでたように思います。また音の分離もより良くなり、各パートの音が埋もれる事なくクリアーに聴こえるように思います。「音が良くなった、悪くなった」は個人に任せるとして、昔の「ジギー~」と聴き比べるとマスタリングの技術の進歩に驚きますよ、きっと。Disk2の方は、マニアとして目新しい曲は殆ど無いですが、アーノルドコーンズと言うBowieの別名義のバージョンでオリジナルとは違うアレンジを聴かせてくれるので、比較すれば楽しいかもしれませんね。全体として、Bowieの熱心なファンはこの３０周年記念盤は絶対に買いでしょう、装丁も中々豪華です!ミックロックによる、未発表フォトも申し訳程度ですが掲載されてますし。ついでに買う人には通常の「Ziggy Stardust」で十分なんじゃないでしょうか。
