　「彼女の声こそ僕らのジェネレーションで最も美しい歌声」･･････Tom Rowlands（THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS）
　↑これは、日本盤の帯に書かれている賛辞の一部です。ここ日本ではイマイチ話題にならない気もするBethですが、THE CHEMICAL BROTHERSのアルバムやBECK「MIDNITE VULTURES」にも参加、ミュージシャン間での評価が高いUK出身の女性S&SWです。
　“美しい声”と言っても、Sarah Brightmanのような所謂綺麗な声とは違います。中音域主体で、ただ、どこかスピリチュアルな感じがして、個人的には彼女の声も癒し系だと思っています。
　曲調は、（前作の同様に）若干のストリング系を配したアコースティック・ギター中心。声の感じのせいもあり、何となく'70年代（Carole Kingなど）のUS女性Vo.もの的な感触もあります。
　静かなる美を淡々と紡ぐ1は、正に名曲。ストリングをバックにしたBethの声が神々しく響きます。穏やかで暖かい感じのするシングル曲2は、Johnny Marr（元THE SMITHS）との共作で、Vo.ゲストとしてRyan Adamsとデュエットしてます。
　その他、共演曲での目玉は、御大Emmylou Harrisとの7でしょう。キャリアも既に30年を超えるEmmylouと、競い合うのではなく、リラックスしたムード。これも良い曲です。
　ひたすら穏やかに、しかし力強く優雅に響き渡るBethのVo.が堪能できる、素晴らしいアルバムです。

表裏のジャケ写に心惹かれたなら、
とりあえず買ってしまってよいかも。
夏の終わりの夕方に、浜辺で波と戯れるべス・オートン。
その笑顔と「過ぎ去った時間への感傷」が
妙にシンクロするような、そんな感じ。
特に１曲目が。

フォークを基調に、歌心を感じさせる曲が心に染みます。
