   ドリームキャストやPCで高い評価を得た、フライトシミュレーターの「エアロダンシング」シリーズ。その、初のプレイステーション2版。タイトル名に「new generation」とあるとおり、ハードの移行にあたり新システムが数多く盛り込まれている。

   戦闘機の操縦方法とはまったく異なる回転翼機（ヘリコプター）「AH-64D」が収録され、回転翼機専用の訓練モードも用意された。「カリキュラム」ははじめてのプレイヤーでも楽しめるように作られた訓練モードで、「PRIMALY」は離陸や旋回といった初歩的なトレーニングを受講できる場所。そのほか、ドッグファイト機動を学習する「ACM」や、回転翼機を専門に訓練する「ROTARY WING」など、9つのジャンルに細分化された40種類を超える訓練過程が収録されている。そのほか、競技会モードの「AERO MEET 2002」や、ミッション途中に突如指令が与えられる「スクランブルミッション」など、随所にパワーアップが図られている。（岡田幸司）

ドリームキャスト版から続くフライトシミュレーションの4作目にあたる近作ですが、エアロダンシングとはどういうゲームなのか？

そもそも第一作は自衛隊のブルーインパルスという曲芸飛行のスペシャリスト部隊に入隊し各種飛行を覚えるというもので着陸などは進入角度や減速など厳密にステップを踏んで行わないと即失敗となるほどのものでシリーズ通してこのスタイルは変わってません。空中機動も重力速度の関係から現実にできる機動を理解して飛ばないと敵の後ろにつくことすら難しいでしょう。

今作から回転翼機（ヘリ）も登場しミッションも色々なタイプが用意されています。さらに面白いのがミッションなどを自分で選択してプレイしている最中にスクランブル発進の要請が出てそれぞれのミッションにいくというスクランブルモードがキモです。

上にも書きましたがこのシリーズは完全なシミュレーターです。ゲームとしての爽快感を求めるなら違うベクトルを目指していると思います。
それでも「俺はいくらでも訓練して上手くなってやるんだ」という根気強い人なら歯ごたえがあって楽しめること請け合いです。

　今まで、さまざまな戦闘機関係のゲームが発売されてきましたが、
ミサイルの搭載数が「これじゃぁ、離陸できねぇだろ」というくらい多かったり、
非現実的なミッションばかりのストーリーなど、
イライラしてゲームに打ち込めなかった人がいると思いますが、このゲームは絶対に買っても損はしません!!
　ミサイルの機動
　着艦時の反動
　高G旋回のGロック

　忠実に再現されたVTOL
　航空自衛隊やTOP-GUNのアグレッサーなど、
全てにおいていかに現実に近づけるか、というゲームです。
今回はヘリも追加され、エアロシリーズで航空機に飽きてしまったという人も、初心からプレイすることができると思います。

このゲームはやり始めるともう止まりません!!訓練は少しきついけど〔特にヘリコプター〕卒業してしまえばもうこっちの物です。訓練しながらスクランブル!!ってのもなかなか楽しいです。本物志向といえば〔G〕に関する影響の演出はかなりどきっ!!とさせられてなかなか驚かされてしまいます。単独でのミッション。僚機とのミッション。ある程度のパターンがあるので飽きることのないゲームです。ぜひ鳥になってみてください!!
