   20世紀初頭に実在した消防車をバンド名に、70年に結成された。精力的なライヴ活動と、年に1枚というペースでアルバムをリリースするが、その存在を知るものは少なく、実績がないのに長続きしていると不思議がられていた。
   そんな彼らに転機が訪れたのは、80年のことである。11枚目のアルバム『禁じられた夜』から<4>の全米No.1シングルが生まれたのである。それまでの力任せの作風から、メリハリの効いたロック・バラードを主力にしたことで、バンドとしての魅力が開花したのだ。その後も<9>などの名作を世に放っている。（春野丸緒）

　その昔聴き込んだバンドのベスト盤は、思い出と一緒に当時の事を鮮明に思い起こさせてくれます。なんとなく聞いたアルバム『WHEELS ARE TURNIN'』が始まりで、長いライブ活動で培われたハリのあるボーカルと情熱のギター、何と言っても力強く楽しくまた哀愁のある楽曲群にあっという間に取り憑かれた。その後、同系の３８スペシャルやZZ TOP、ライブが得意なグレイトフル・デッドなども好きになったことは言わずもかな。
　このベスト盤は、バンドの主に８０年代のヒット曲、代表曲をほぼ網羅したもので、「in your letter」が入っていれば・・。８０年代にこのバンドに馴染んだ方にとってはベストでしょう。やはり「CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING」は、ピアノのリフと切ない泣きのギター、抑えきれない感情をだんだん昂揚していく曲調とメロディーでみごとに表現している名曲だと思います。

　彼らにも長い長い下積み時代があり、「Hi　Infidelity」以前にアルバム１０数枚と膨大なライブ活動があり、当時ラジオのライブ音源を聴いたが、その時の曲も確かいい感触だったと記憶しているので、アンソロジーかライブ音源を今のリマスタで発売して欲しいとホント期待してますよ。このベスト盤のラストの曲はライブ音源ですが、彼等の真骨頂といえる素晴らしいの一言。このバンドはやっぱりライブよ。

彼等の絶頂期を綴ったベスト版。
ヒットナンバーのオンパレードです。

このバンドは、産業ロックと呼ばれる類のバンドの中でも
ポップさ、聞きやすさは抜群だと思います。

特に９は名曲中の名曲。彼等の名は知らなくても
聞いた事があるという方々もいらっしゃるかもしれませんね。

ＲＥＯを知るには、とても良いアルバム。

また知らなくても安心して聞けるアルバムだと思います。

耳障りのいい曲で大好きだった「涙のフィーリング」。ラジオで、テレビで流れる際には最後まで聴くことができず悲しい思いをした。'７０年後半から’８０年代の耳に覚えのいい曲ばかりがこの「ＨＩＳ」には収録されていて、どちらかといえば優しいアメリカン・ロック集となっている。どれも懐かしさを覚えるほどで、まさしくＨＩＳ！
