3.0 out of 5 stars 色々な意味での「洗練さ」, 2002/7/6
　一言で言えば「大人」で「すっきりした」アルバム。
　先のシングル、「Higher than the Sun」の方向性をそのまま持ち込んだと言えるこのアルバム。それまでシンバルズと言えば「キャッチ-なギターポップ」という音楽だったが、もはやその名残はほとんど無い。これまで、「生の音」の中にジャジーであったり、バカラックを思わせるようなアプローチを取ってみたりしていたことから、どこか懐かしい、緑がかったものがにじみ出ていたが、今作品では完全に２０００年代の音楽に突入している。音は打ち込みが中心であり、「大人しい」印象を受ける。これはきっと、洗練したことを意味するのだろうが、個人的には洗練しすぎて愛着を持てない。そもそも垢抜けた音作りが彼らの持ち味でもあるが、それに相反してどこか土臭さを残していたことも彼らの個性でもあった気がする。これを失ってしまったのはやや寂しい。

このリスナーをワクワクさせるパワーは素晴らしい。

今日一日が素晴らしい日になりそうな気がしてくる、そんな気分になりました。このバンドのことは何も知らずに初めて聴きましたが、そんな気分にしてくれる音楽はあまりありませんよね。

エレクトロニカ，クラブミュージックに傾倒した1枚
Hi-Fiでクリアな音質を求めて制作されており，
それまで彼らがやってきた音楽と正反対のことをやっているために
うまく消化しきれなかった部分があったようだ
4つ打ちのリズムとパンクロックのリズムというのは
根本的な部分が違うために全てがうまく噛み合っていない
決して満足とはいえない予算を割いてまで導入した
ストリングスのアレンジも功を奏していない
このアルバムの失敗が緩やかな解散への流れを
指し示していたように思えて残念だ
