   過去にも様々な役者によって演じられてきた平蔵役だが、初代平蔵を演じた8代目松本幸四郎の実子でもある中村吉右衛門にとっての平蔵は、文字通り一世一代の当たり役となった。一通りでは説明できない複雑な人物像を豪快に演じきる様に、原作者自身のご指名というお墨付きも加わり、もはや吉右衛門以外の平蔵は想像しづらい。善悪綯い交ぜの人の世で、時には情け深く、時には厳罰を持って処する平蔵の人間臭い魅力が、見るものを否応なくひきつける。豪奢なセットにケレン味たっぷりの演出。各話に登場する豪華なゲストと、時代劇のあらゆる魅力が満載の作品だ。（麻生結一）

盗人にも同心にも生活があり、事情があり、物語がある。

酸いも甘いも知り尽くしたる鬼平裁き．．．

いまこそ私達は、仄かに香るダンディズムに身を浸してみたい．．．
