   カルト教団「心理の箱舟」による無差別殺人事件が発生し、犯人たちは教団に殺害され、教祖も自殺した。そして3年後、加害者家族の男女4人（ARATA、伊勢谷友介、寺島進、夏川結衣）が、犯人の遺灰を撒いた山中の湖を訪れるが、ひょんなことから元信者の男（浅野忠信）と一緒に、実行犯たちが最期の時を過ごしたロッジに身を寄せることに…。
   オウム真理教による一連の事件をモチーフに、『幻の光』『ワンダフルライフ』に続いて是枝裕和監督が手掛けた繊細で残酷、そしてどこかファンタジックなヒューマン・ドラマ。加害者の身内たちの苦悩や喪失感が、それぞれの距離（ディスタンス）を多分に意識した関係性を通してリアルに描かれている。閉塞した現代社会を生きる観客の胸の内をも貫く意欲作。（的田也寸志）

「僕たちは、加害者なのか被害者なのか」
この映画を観た後、この言葉が頭から離れませんでした。
事件を起こした犯人の家族に、視点を置いたこの作品は、とても深く、いろいろ考ることの多い作品でした。ドキュメンタリーな感じが、映画の内容とも合っていました。静かな映画ですが、心に深く残る映画のひとつです。

役者の即興演技ということなのだが、あまりに自然な演技で、正直普通にビデオカメラで生活を切り取ったような、そんな感じを受けた。冒頭の山へ向かうときの車内での会話や、ロッジ内での会話。役者はその役の台本しか持ち合わせていないことで、相手の反応は読めない。だからこそ、日常に行っている会話と変らない状況を作り出せるんだろう。
