4.0 out of 5 stars 日本が世界に誇る古典的傑作, 2006/1/22
　見終わった後何だか感動してしまいます。個人的には、いささか説教くさい「ホルス」よりこっちのほうが好み。この映画、確か、モスクワ映画祭に出品され「子どもにとってもっとも面白い映画」というようなタイトルを受賞しています。面白いという点で東映動画最高の作品であることは間違いないところでしょう。「カリオストロの城」でのシーンよりこっちの城でのシーンほうがアイデアに満ちており、「たたみかけ度」も迫力も爽快感もあると思います。

リアルタイムで見てます……ってトシがバレますね。あれからもう30年くらい経ちますが、見た日の興奮は今でも覚えている。「すげえ面白いものを見ちゃった！」という高揚感。夜になっても覚めやらず、笑ったシーンを何度も思い返していた。これと同じ思いをしたのは、その後「カリオストロの城」を見た時。どっちも宮崎駿だ。やっぱり私は、大家になる前の、こういう娯楽作品を作っていた時の宮崎さんが好きだなあ。その宮崎さんが担当したというラストの塔のおっかけは、今見てもハラハラする。ピエールのちょっと頼りない主人公ぶり、それを支えるペロのかっこよさ、そしてペロを追いかけてくるネズミ３匹組のマヌケさ加減、小池朝雄演じる魔王の憎めない悪役ぶり。すべてのキャラクターが魅力的というのもすごい。見て幸せな気分になれるアニメってそうはないですよ。

オープニングシーンは、ねずみを救った件で猫仲間の判決を受け、仲間から追われている「ペロ」の姿から始まる。猫達の裁判で助けた理由を問われ彼は言い放つ！「…月がとっても青かったからねぇ…」。そして彼は猫仲間から追われる身となったのだ。裏切り者として…。開始からペロの人となり（猫となり？）を表現していてワクワクさせられます。頭が良くて大胆なペロの活躍によって、心やさしく正直者の主人公ピエールはカラバ公爵として、美しく清純なローザ姫の花婿候補になるが、彼女を狙う魔王ルシファの不恰好な、いや…不気味な影が迫まっていた！。…ミュージカル風に進むのも楽しい、子供から大人まで鑑賞できる娯楽映画である。ペロがアイデアをヒラメク時のひげのアクションが素敵！、また脚本には井上ひさし、山元譲久、音楽に宇野誠一郎、当時は若手であった宮崎駿氏をはじめ東映動画黄金時代のアニメーターによる作画など、様々な面で充実した正に東映動画の記念すべき作品。この映画のペロはその後、東映動画のマスコットキャラクターにもなった。♪ビックリしたニャ…♪
