ただのインスト・ベストかと通り過ぎるには惜しすぎる一枚。未発表新曲2曲に加えリミックスされた曲もあり、通して聴いた時の充実感、程良い酩酊感はオリジナル・アルバムにも匹敵。"Mother And Child" (アルバム"Secrets Of The Beehive"収録）は元々歌モノですが、歌を抜く代わりにトランペットがメロを担当。リミックスの表記があるのは1曲だけですが、本人のライナーを読むと他の多くの曲も彼自身の手でリミックスされた事が伺えます。名曲"Mutability"が入っている点で、日本盤の方が良いです。しかしこの曲が短く編集されてる点が気になり、それで星四つ。オススメです。

　それまでインストゥルメンタルという音楽は敬遠していたが、
　デヴィッド・シルヴィアンと出会い、
　錬金術やGone to Earthに触れるうち、
　インストゥルメンタルという音楽に魅力を感じた。

　それからはブライアン・イーノやハロルド・バッド、
　そういったアンビエントの名家にまで手を出し、
　どっぷりとこの世界に浸かってしまっている。

　だがデヴィッドの音楽は、
　イーノやバッドのそれとは感覚が違う。
　どこか曲に感情が感じられるのだ。

　このアルバムには、
　そういう種の曲が凝縮されていると思う。
　特にRed Earth、Wave、Upon This Earthなど、
　名曲以外の何物でもない。

　最近はインスト物が減ってしまったけれど、
　もっともっと創って欲しいです！

david sylvianは本当に、日本人によく合うアーティストだと思います。この作品もbrilliant trees,gone to earthといい、静かなムードを漂わせる、かっこよさを思わせる作品に仕上がっています。個人的にはupon this earthはぜひきいてもらいたい最高傑作の１曲です。
