個人的な話だが、筆者はブラスバンドに所属していたことがあるので、ここに聴くスーザの最盛期の作品のほとんどを演奏した経験がある。実は、スーザは聴くより吹く方が楽しいのだ。「原典」はどちらかというとひなびたサウンド。でもこれこそマーチだ。

　アメリカの演奏と日本の軍楽隊を比較すると、やはり、力と技術が特徴に挙げられます。それこそ、アメリカは力強く、日本は技巧的に、演奏しております。これはアメリカのマーチですが、日本の音楽隊が演奏しております。技巧にとんだ第一音楽隊の姿は、大変お勧めです。ぜひいかがでしょう。
