オジーオズボーンとの歴史的なバトルを繰り広げ、
彗星のごとく逝ってしまった伝説のギタリスト、
ランディローズがデビュー当時在籍していたバンドの
復活作です。
ランディが飛行機事故で夭折し、世界が悲しみにうち
沈んでいた時に、オジーのバンドで一緒にやっていた
ベースのＲＵＤＹ　ＳＡＲＺＯ（ＱＲ以来の仲間）が
声をかけてバンドを復活、リリースした経緯があります。

ランディファンも注目し、2のスマッシュヒットもあり
彼らの最高傑作であり最大のヒット作となりました。
ランディの名をかたってヒット狙った、という誹謗中傷も
ありましたが、それをはねとばすだけの魅力ある作品に
仕上がっているのではないでしょうか。

1なんて、彼ららしいすばらしいＨＭですし、なにより
これがメジャーデビューだったギターのカルロス・カヴァーゾ
の大健闘が光ります。とりわけ、インスト8はカルロスの
テクとセンス全開です。筆者的には79が突っ走っていて
オススメです。10は故ランディに贈る仲間タチのバラード。
お涙頂戴的で若干抵抗を感じますが、美しい曲でＧＯＯＤ。
ＱＲの作品に興味があれば、この１枚があれば十分では
ないでしょうか。

その後、ＶＯＣＡＬのＫＥＶＩＮとＲＵＤＹが不仲となり、
ナンジャカンジャしている内に、底の浅さを露呈してしまい、
結局シーンの影に隠れていってしまいました。合掌・・・

このアルバムにより、クワイエットライオットは大成功、
そして、LAメタルのムーブの火付け役になった
歴史的な意味でも欠かせない1枚。

ギターのカルロスカバーゾは、流麗に速弾きをキめるタイプではありませんが、
ツボを抑えたプレイが光っています。
そして、曲も文句無く全曲良いです。
LAメタルを知りたいなら、そしてクワイエットライオットを知りたいなら、
まず、この1枚を聴くべきです。

　それまでアングラのジャンルだった「ＨＥＡＶＹ　ＭＥＴＡＬ」を一般大衆に知らしめ、商業的に成り立つことを証明した、歴史的名盤。
　音は典型的なＬ．Ａ．メタル。乾いた抜けの良い健康的サウンド。プロデューサーはこれが出世作になるスペンサー・プロファー。ＲＡＴＴのボー・ヒルとともに、「２大Ｌ．Ａ．メタル・プロデューサー」と言われた人です。ポップセンスとハードサウンドが融合した、８０年代を象徴するアルバムです。　
　曲も粒ぞろい。個人的なお薦めはバラード・ナンバーの『ＴＨＵＮＤＥＲＢＩＲＤ』。ランディ・ローズに捧げたものであることが明白な歌詞、メロディ。鳥肌ドバーっで、涙腺うる~っ、の、１０年に一曲の名曲、と断言しよう！ＢＵＹ！！
