俺様が初めて聴いたメタル。あまりの速さに当時はビビった。


まあ、彼らも俺様にはビビったらしいが「ナンダ、アノBOYハ!?ウツワガBIGネ」と。



スラッシュといえば、このスレイヤー、メタリカ、メガデス、アンスラックス。アンスラックスがなんでそう呼ばれてるかはよく分からん、俺様にはオーソドックスなメタルにしか聴こえない、有名な曲しか聴いてないからかもしれんが。


デイブ・ロンバードのドラミングはとにかく凄い。


聴いたことないキッズよ………聴けや!きっと満足する筈たぜ、ベイビー

オリジナルメンバーとしては、デイブが参加した最後の作品。（現在は復帰）
妥協を許さないその硬派な曲作りは、ファンにその存在を強烈にアピールし、アグレッシブ且つスピーディで、ミディアムソリッドな要素を取入れた本作は、バンドとしての音楽性を頑ななまでにリスナーに植え付ける事に成功したアルバムではないでしょうか？
かく言う私もその一人で、スレイヤーの格好良さを改めて認識しました。少なくとも多くのリスナーを惹き付けたのも事実です（MTVでシーズンズ・イン・ジ・アビスを演奏）。

　何時ごろだったか覚えてませんがＭＴＶでシーズンズ・イン・ジ・アビスを聴いて衝撃を受けました。このナンバーは所謂典型的なスレイヤーチューンではないのですが、メロディアスで美しく二人のソロも他のナンバーとは対照的に構築されたものとなっています。はっきりいってこの曲のためだけにこのアルバムを買っても損は無い上に一曲目のウォー・アンサンブルは湾岸戦争で戦車のスピーカーからがんがん流されていたといういわくつきの曲。他の曲もクオリティが高く聴き込んでよしコピーのネタにしてもよし（ただし聴きとれれば（笑））、スレイヤーを買うならコレ！
