長らくCD化されないでいた最後の大物と言うべき名盤がついに登場。
浩介のテーマ、隆夫のテーマ、伸六のテーマ・・・ひとつひとつの曲
を聴くたびに、彼らの生き方をまねていたあの頃の自分を思い出す。
「俺たちの旅」ファン、「トランザム」ファンのみならず、
「青春」という言葉が好きな人にもお勧めする、そんな１枚なのです。

番組のオンエア当時出ていた、サントラLP２枚分をそのまま、１枚のCDに収めたもの。オリジナル・ライナー、および詳細な楽曲解説も掲載されている。

もともと『太陽にほえろ！』などのサントラ同様、発売を前提とし、ステレオで新たに録音された音源で構成されたもので、そのためか、ドラマの中で聞こえていたあの曲が入っていない、入っているけど何か感じが違う、といったような違和感や物足りなさが、聴いていてどうしてもつきまとってしまう（解説にもあるが、ここはやはりドラマ用の、オリジナル音源の今後の発掘が望まれるところだ）。また、演奏だけの「俺たちの旅」や「ただお前がいい」は、やはり味気ないと感じてしまう（これは近年のドラマの、主題歌そのものが収められていないサントラを聴いた時の感じに近い）。

それでもおしまい近く（LPでいうと、２枚めのB面）まで来ると、ドラマそのままの感じの曲が、たて続けに聴ける部分もあったりして、それなりの充実感が味わえたりもする。あと、タマ（石橋正次演じる、玉三郎）のテーマ（原曲＝「猫背のあいつ」）が聴けるのもうれしい。

生活のBGMとしてのおすすめの用途は、PCでの作業中（実は、これを書いてる今も流してますが…）、ドライブ（車での移動）の帰路、など。

それは中学生のときにＬＰ盤でこのアルバムを買っていたのでとてもＣＤ化されてうれしいです。１曲１曲にカースケが走る姿、オメダが部屋で落ち込んでる姿、グズ六が紀子サンに会いに行く姿、さまざまな場面がよみがえります。ドラマからの音源ではないのでがっかりの方もいるようですが、十分あのころの場面がよみがえり自分がカースケにあこがれたあの日の自分に戻れる、人にやさしくなれるアルバムです。
