物語的には大きな事件も無く、田舎の老人の日常を描いているのですが、出演者の演技が凄すぎます。B.ﾃﾞｲｳﾞｨｽとL.ｷﾞｯｼｭはもはや演技を超えた演技といいますか、本当に普通の人の日常を撮影した感じで、これらを表現できる人は今はいないのではないでしょうか。人生の黄昏と生きる強さをしみじみ感じさせてくれる映画で、近年は派手な作品が多いせいか、安らぎすら覚えました。音楽も良く、B.ﾃﾞｲｳﾞｨｽは大病を患った後痩せましたが、相変わらず気難しい役ながらも、衰えぬ威厳を感じました。最もDVD化を望む作品の一つです。

特別な出来事といったものは何もない映画であるが、決して退屈な映画ではない。海辺に佇む見晴らしのよい家に、2人の老人が暮らしている。その環境の美しさとそこに集う老人たちの静かな生の美しさが、生きる幸せを感じさせてくれる。長い人生を歩んできた老人だからこそ表現できる生が描かれている。そうした老人たちの喜び、苦悩、プライド、希望といったものに満ちている映画であり、味わいがある。

一番好きな映画のひとつです。音楽･映像・演技のどれをとっても美しく、起伏のない内容なのに見ているだけで心が洗われます。他の皆さんも書いておられますが、なぜＤＶＤ化されないのかが不思議です。
