アイク&ティナ時代の栄光とは別に、ソロとして活動を開始したT.ターナーが最も成功を収めた作品として多くの人が認める人気盤('84年作)。
ポピュラー・チャートだけでも[2]、[5]、[6]、[7]がチャートイン、アルバム・チャートでも高位を記録し、Record Of The Year、Best Female Pop Vocal Performanceを始めグラミー賞3冠を手中にする等、まさにその勢いは凄まじいものでした。
特に個人的には[3]を何回となく聴いていました。ショー・ガールの孤独さや夢といった楽曲のテーマ(歌詞)、M.ノップラーのコンポーズのセンス、そして抑えに抑えた(^^;J.ベック渾身のギター・ソロ。何とも贅沢ではあります。
また、[4](A.ピーブルズ)、[6](A.グリーン)といったメンフィス・ソウルからのヒットナンバーをオリジナルの良さを踏襲しつつカバーしたり、[10]ではD.ボウイの手によるナンバーを取り上げるなど、必ずしもソウルテイストに固守する訳ではなく、T.ターナーのエンタテイメントを発揮できる内容になっていると思います。
蛇足：
[9]は言うまでもなくビートルズ作品ですが、バックにはW.フェルダー(sax)やデヴィッド.T.ウォーカー(g)も参加しています。
