私自身はビートルズ世代ではありませんので、それ程J.レノンというアーティストへの思い入れはありません。同様に、Y.オノに対してもそうです。本作('80年作)にしても、直後の衝撃的な事件がなければ聴こうとは思わなかったかも知れません。
所謂オリジナル作品としては6年振りにリリースされた本作は、結果としてはアルバムチャート#1を取り、'81年の年間チャート上位にランクされ、更にグラミー賞におけるAlbum of the Yearの栄冠にも輝く訳ですが、アルバム全編を通して聴く事は個人的に非常に厳しいものを感じます(^^;
コンセプトとして、J.レノンとY.オノが互いの心を確認し、対話するが如く楽曲(及び曲順)が構成されているのは判らないでもありません。がしかし、J.レノンのそれとY.オノのそれを並列にしてしまう事で、あまりにもチグハグに感じられてしまう、、と感じるのは私だけでしょか?上手い下手という点ではなく、"流れに乗って聴く"事ができないと言いますか…
しかしこれもJ.レノンという稀代のアーティストがやったことに違いありませんから、それも含めてやはり評価はしなければいけないのかも知れません。
