このゲームはSimCity2000、SimCity3000と続編の出ている第一作目です。自分が市長となり、自分の街をどういうものにしていくか、自分で好きなように作れます！できる機能は続編と比べると少ないですが、面白さは今でも十分です。

自分が市長となり、自分の町を発展させていくという設定はとても面白い！
税金の設定から消防署・警察署の分布や工業地帯などを考えたり
建て方によっては住宅地がホテルになったり商業地がデパートになったりとやりこめる感はある。
でもデータが消えやすい、本格的な町にするには結局パターンが絞られるなどの欠点があるので星4つ。

パソコン版などもあるそうですが、スーファミが適度に単純でわかりやすく楽しめるのではないでしょうか？

プレーヤーが市長となって都市開発をするシミュレーションゲーム。
やることはシンプルで、マップと予算を見ながら「何をどこに作るか」を決定するのがメインである。
都市の発展は画面に表示されている人口数から判断でき、これに応じて
「キャピタル」や「メトロポリス」など呼称が変わる。
人口50万人を達成して「メガロポリス」にするのが目標。

無人の土地（多数あるマップから選択）と所定の予算からスタートする。
まず発電所を建設し、住宅区、商業区、工業区などを設置しつつ電線や交通網を整備するのが基本だが、
地価に気を配って公園を作ったり警察署を建てて犯罪発生率を抑えたりすることも必要になってくる。
都市が発展してくると、さらなる開発のためにスタジアムや空港を建設する必要も出てくる。
また、火災や原発事故などの各種災害に対処することも市長（プレーヤー）の役目である。

収益のシステムを理解し、住民の要望に応えていけばある程度までは発展してくれるが、
一定のレベル、特にメガロポリス達成には攻略のテクニックが必要になってくる。
操作は簡単ながら、じっくり考えて進める要素も備えたゲームなので、
まずはネットや攻略本の知識に頼らずに自力でどこまで行けるかを楽しんでみるのもよさそうだ。
